Raytheon Technologies Sr Systems Engineer II in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The UAE THAAD FMS Program is looking to staff a US Expat Power Generation Engineer to forward deploy to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) under the terms of an MOU/Long Term International Assignment managed by RAYSEAS.
The Power Generation Engineer is responsible, proper operation and repair of the power generation and support of the Major End Item (MEI) PPU. Support will be provided for the operation and repair of the PPU and the operations only of the power conversion equipment for the 4160VAC/60 Hertz power plant. Technical assistance relative to the radar component will be provided to the electrical maintenance contractor. The Power Generation Engineer will interface with the support contactors of the power generation and power conversion equipment on an as needed basis. Candidate will provide guidance to the customer/user personnel in establishing continuous operation, maintenance, inspection procedures, and techniques in support of the radar system Power Generation.
Analyzes equipment failures to resolve cause and recommends corrective action. Coordinate and submit PMCS Waivers and Deferred maintenance requests.
Coordinates with TMF Radar Manager and TMF Hardware Technician to accomplish all tasks needed and obtain needed resources.
Provides technical support for configuration management of hardware and software. Provides technical support for site radar systems issues and guides those troubleshooting efforts as needed or instructed by TMF Radar Manager.
Reviews all ALCS program data to insure that all needed data has been entered to include ITR’s, calibration records, PMCS, and other areas as needed and contains sufficient information for Failure Review Board evaluations as needed.
Coordinate and submit PMCS waivers and deferred maintenance requests.
This position will be in UAE.
Candidate must have a current US Driver’s License.
Must meet overseas medical deployment qualifications.
CURRENT ACTIVE SECRET SECURITY CLERANCE REQUIRED.
- Must be able to work in an extreme desert heat environment.
Must have at least 6 years of related Systems Engineering, Power Generation, Power Conversion, Radar systems, and or HVAC experience.
Possess a thorough level of proficiency on equipment Prime Power Unit (PPU) that uses a Caterpillar C32 and SR4 alternator.
AN/TPY-2 Radar Power generation sustainment and operation experience.
Data base entry skills to perform continuous updates to ALCS program data and insure that all needed data has been entered to include ITR’s, calibration records, PMCS, and other areas as needed and contains sufficient information for Failure Review Board evaluations as needed.
Documented experience on DOD or Missile Defense Programs.
Experience with the operation and maintenance procedures on power generation, preferably the Raytheon PPU.
Knowledge of the safe work practices in regards to operation and sustainment of electrical power generation equipment.
Must be experienced and familiar with the instruments and test equipment commonly used in electronic installation, maintenance and test (e.g. Dranetz meter, Schweitzer relay, Hi-Pot tester).
Able to dis-assemble and assemble and understand the principles of mechanical failures.
Demonstrated excellence in past work performance.
Ability to be flexible with related work assignments.
Possess mechanical aptitude with instruments and demonstrate an understanding of mechanical assemblies.
Self-starter – proactive in choosing goals and targets and pursuing the necessary course of action.
Possess experience in the depot level sustainment and repair procedures of Power generation equipment (15K, 30k, and 150k diesel generators).
Knowledge of radar theory and experience with Radar X-Band hardware/software concepts, RF systems, troubleshooting, and reading/utilizing hardware schematics.
Experience with LINUX or other UNIX based OS platforms (Solaris, HP-UX, etc.)
Experience in maintaining and providing engineering assessment and corrective actions on faulted equipment, and installation and testing of engineering modifications/updates
Ability to be flexible with related work assignments to include deployment to work locations at various sites internationally.
Must be able to work self-guided with minimal supervision.
Certified Six Sigma Specialist.
Excellent people skills.
Experience with MS Windows operating system and MS Office products.
Experience working in the Middle East and with international customers.
At least six years’ experience in the troubleshooting and operational checkout of TPY2 systems.
Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
May substitute experience for education.
