Dept Description:

The Antenna Core Products Team plays a key role within the Engineering organization by developing the electronics for defense system products. We engage at the outset of the system development and follow our designs through deployment. Our team helps develop the requirements and bring concepts to life. Our products are deployed all over the world, on the ground, and they reach the exo-atmospheric environments and into space. The FPGA team within the Antenna Core Products Department is responsible for the architecture, design, and documentation of deliverable firmware and FPGA embedded processing.

Job Description:

The Electrical Engineer will be working in our newly opened Global Engineering Center - Puerto Rico to augment the Texas based FPGA team within the Antenna Core Products Department. Initially, the Engineer will work from home using Raytheon assets to do their work assignments and to connect to the Raytheon proprietary network. Next year, the Engineer will work on site at a Raytheon Technologies site near Aguadilla, Puerto Rico as the Raytheon Intelligence & Space team grows in Puerto Rico market. Since this position will require daily interactions with the Texas team and other mainland Raytheon sites, excellent communications skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to work with minimal direction are highly desired skills

The Electrical Engineer - FPGA developer will design for all major vendors and device families including: Xilinx, Altera, Lattice, and Microsemi. Designs are implemented using VHDL for the following applications: gigabit serial interfaces, Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) DSP, controls, data links, embedded processing and processor interfaces. Designers work with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements, architect new parts, collaborative modeling of algorithms, partition and perform code development, simulation, and place and route. Designs are verified against requirements using both directed test and constrained random methodologies. Design support is expected from requirements definition through integration and test. Design documentation and configuration management are required

U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years professional exp.

  • Demonstrated experience with digital design and VHDL or Verilog coding

  • Experience with Xilinx, Altera or Microsemi/Microchip FPGAs

  • Expertise in FPGA timing constraints and timing closure Digital signal processing as applied to FPGA Devices

  • Knowledge of C programming and scripting languages such as Perl and Python

  • Fluent in Spanish and English (written and verbal)

  • US Citizenship, with ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

    Desired Qualifications:

  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 3.0 or better cumulative GPA desired

  • Familiarity with the Linux environment and commands Expertise of Xilinx, Intel, Microchip, or Lattice devices and tool flows

  • Hands on integration experience with FPGA based systems.

  • Knowledge of embedded systems design utilizing Microblaze, Nios, and ARM processors

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direction

    Required Education:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science STEM degree and at least 2 years of professional engineering experience. Or a Masters in Science STEM degree and applicable internships, coops, or projects.
