RI&S Puerto Rico is seeking an Electrical Firmware Eng to join the Electro Optical (EO) Electronics Team. The candidate will play a key role within the Engineering organization by developing the electronics for defense system products. We engage at the outset of the system development and follow our designs through deployment. Our team helps develop the requirements and bring concepts to life. Our products are deployed all over the world on both ground based, and airborne platforms. The FPGA team within the EO Electronics Department is responsible for the architecture, design, and documentation of deliverable firmware and FPGA embedded processing.
The Electrical Engineer will be working in our newly opened Global Engineering Center - Puerto Rico to augment the Texas based FPGA team within the EO Electronics Department. Initially, the Engineer will work from home using Raytheon assets to do their work assignments and to connect to the Raytheon proprietary network. Next year, the Engineer will work on site at a Raytheon Technologies site near Aguadilla, Puerto Rico as the Raytheon Intelligence & Space team grows in Puerto Rico market. Since this position will require daily interactions with the Texas team and other mainland Raytheon sites, excellent communications skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to work with minimal direction are highly desired skills.
The Electrical Engineer - FPGA developer will be responsible for implementing FPGA level design derived from system level requirements, implementing design, performing simulations and analysis, and testing of the FPGA module and/or unit. The candidate will be familiar with the latest technology trends in the area of microprocessors, memory, FPGAs and interface protocols. The candidate will work in the product development team environment with system and software engineers. This position may require occasional business related travel.
U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Required Skills and Experience:
At least 5 years of professional engineering experience
Excellent Electrical Engineering background in the industry
Hands-on experience in testing of products using logic analyzer, high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, and FPGA debugging tools
Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as: PCIe &10/100 Gb Ethernet
Experience with video interfaces such as: DVI, DisplayPort, CoaXpress, or SDI
Experience designing with Xilinx and/or Altera FPGAs
Experience with software configuration management (SCM) tools such as Git
Possess excellent skills to handle a fast paced and adaptable product development environment
Excellent team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work self - guided and develop priorities on multiple tasks as well as provide technical guidance
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date
Fluent in Spanish and English (written and verbal)
Experience designing FPGAs with Embedded Microprocessors
Experience with SoC’s, Multi-Gigabit transceivers, DDR and flash memories
Background in Sensor and Read Out IC
Image Processing of Color and/or Monochrome sensor data
Background in Non Uniformity Correction
Background in Video Trackers
Image Processing Algorithm & MATLAB experience
Technical Leadership and/or project management
Basis of Estimate (BOE) generation for firmware development, simulation, integration and test work scope
Ability to work independently and with minimal direction
Requires a Bachelor of Science STEM degree and at least 2 years of professional engineering experience. Or a Masters in Science STEM degree and applicable internships, coops, or projects.
