Job Description:

Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raytheon Intelligence & Space, currently has an opening for a Principal Computer Systems Architect to be the Digital Technology department's Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Microsoft and VMWare domains for classified and unclassified environments. The SME will apply advanced knowledge by designing and building solutions, creating and maintaining roadmaps, and providing hand-on support to resolve issues when escalated. In addition, the SME will be a change agent to, and advocate for, enforcement of consistent best practices and compliance.

Examples of key duties and responsibilities:

  • Will support System Administrators requiring advanced expertise to solve issues

  • Will be required to backfill System Administrators during coverage gaps for various reasons

  • May be required to travel to other domestic sites on a regular basis (e.g. monthly)

  • Identify Implementation Methodology, implement, and troubleshoot Technical Security Controls

  • Communicate risks/impacts of design changes to technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Act as a key contributor & reviewer in change control processes

  • Act as an authority on tool, process and environment selection

  • Support development of technical team through coaching and mentoring

  • Prepare and present status, plans, and risks to management

  • Maintain a strong understanding of infrastructure systems and services including, but not limited to, compute, storage, network, cyber, and virtualization/cloud

  • Promote and share technical decisions and choices made in your domain with the wider department and affected user communities

  • Conduct trade studies, to determine possible system (hardware, software, architecture) improvements

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Experience architecting, designing, and administering Microsoft Windows-based infrastructures with Active Directory to include DNS, DHCP and other core services of the infrastructure on Windows Server 2016 and/or 2019

  • Experience architecting, designing, and administering VMWare-based infrastructures to include vCenter with multiple vSphere instances across multiple geographic sites

  • Experience developing both high-level and low-level requirements-based infrastructure system designs

  • Experience creating and maintaining detailed design artifacts

  • Experience analyzing and improving IT infrastructure performance

  • Experience providing oversight of infrastructure implementation activities

  • Experience with architecture frameworks and views

  • Experience with US Government security standards (e.g. NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, DFARS, CMMC, RMF, etc.)

  • CompTIA Security+, or equivalent DoD 8570 certification for IAT Level II, within 6 months of hir e

  • Must be willing and able to obtain US Government security clearances and program access. Successful candidate may be required to complete a Full Scope Polygraph and must maintain all clearances and program access throughout employment.

Required Education (including Major):

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math and 8 years of related experience
