Raytheon Technologies Fire Systems Specialist in Andover, Massachusetts
Raytheon Technologies, Global Realty Services (GRS) has an opening for a Fire Systems Specialist (Sr. Facilities Engineer I) specializing in Fire Protection Systems. The position is located in the Andover, MA facility but also includes responsibilities for other North East locations.
Manages the fire protection systems to ensure that all fire alarm, fire prevention and suppression systems are compliant and at the highest state of readiness. Interfaces with customers, contractors, supply chain, planning, account managers, maintenance, finance, environmental health & safety, security, and design engineering to complete tasks. Responsible for the conceptual design, detailed design contracting, installation contracting, and acceptance testing of various fire protection systems. Responsible for the coordination and implementation of FM Global Insurance Programs and RMD protocols specifically related to maintaining Raytheon Technologies fire protection programs.
Subject matter expertise of Fire Protection Systems
Responsible to meet all Raytheon’s Technologies policies and procedures, Federal, State and Local fire codes and building regulations.
Provide technical support to management teammates and trades personnel.
Provide system operations and response training to facilities and security personnel.
Support and coordinate all fire, life safety systems regulatory requests and activities for local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies.
Be involved in system evaluations and create recommendations to senior management based on schedule, cost, applicable codes and system research.
Provide team leadership based on your technical knowledge and ability to routinely develop cost effective solutions over a range of complex issues while ensuring solutions are innovative and consistent with organizational goals and objectives.
Perform work with minimal direction and communicate well with team members, management, Security, EHSS, internal customers, bargaining unit, outside contractors and vendors.
Liaison with local fire departments
Ability to work nights and weekends as required for operational needs and on-call response duties
Minimum 4+ years’ experience in leading building, infrastructure, and maintenance projects and a Bachelor’s degree equivalent combination of related work experience in Facilities/Fire Protection system maintenance and schooling/certifications in lieu of degree
Proficient field knowledge of fire alarm systems and at least one of the two following fire protection fields:
Fire Sprinkler Systems (wet, dry, antifreeze, preaction…)
Specialty Suppression Systems (CO2, Halon, FM200, Novec, Inergen, Wet Chemical, Dry Chemical…)
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be capable of communicating with customers both orally and in writing
Project Management experience
Experience in building infrastructure and technology
Understanding of State of Massachusetts and National Building codes
Understanding of NFPA codes and standards
Understanding of FM Global design requirements
Ability to travel to multiple sites in the Northeast
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Prior experience in the development of new concepts, techniques and standards as well as experience in developing solutions to complex problems.
Experience consulting with management on fire system maintenance and repair issues.
Solid computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
Working knowledge of electronic drawing systems (AutoCAD is used at this location).
Required Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent combination of related work experience in Facilities/Fire Protection system maintenance and schooling/certifications in lieu of degree
