Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. WLE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.
As an Instructional Design / Training Specialist, you’re responsible for the design and development of training materials and courseware as well as providing training to the target audience. If you’re a driven and detailed, conceptual thinker with strong instructional design and training experience in a military environment, demonstrated proficiency in instructional design principles, and a real passion for responsive design, this might be the job for you!
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
The position will be responsible for:
Developing across several platforms such as Web, Interactive Distance Learning (IDL), Virtual Classroom Training (VCT) and/or Instructor-Led hands-on training
Participating in concept development, design ideation and detailed specification of visual design production
Researching content and gleaning information from technical, soft skill and/or business documentation as well as engineering personnel or other technical subject matter experts to design the appropriate learning solution
Experience applying the ADDIE model for eLearning, Virtual Classroom and Instructor-Led training
Providing training to the target audience
This role requires travel of potentially 3 months in duration in order to provide training to the target audience.
This role offers a full-time telecommuting work opportunity. However, the incumbent must be able to commute to our Andover, MA facility on a regular basis for required meetings and other responsibilities . Commuting expenses will be the responsibility of the incumbent.
An advanced degree can be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree. An additional 2 years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for each 1 year of college.
6+ years’ experience with curriculum design, development and/or delivery
Experience with training or curriculum development or design in a military environment
Experience with Instructor-Led technical training
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
Must be able to perform design/development duties with minimal coaching while adhering to pre-established guidelines
A portfolio demonstrating a strong record of successful instructional design work
Proficient to expert in industry standard tools to create impactful courses, including a solid grasp of graphic and web design principles and good understanding of current web technologies
Instructor experience for both design and delivery of technical training
A methodical, organized approach to work, and an ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Excellent delivery and execution skills
Military instructor experience
