The Operations Engineering East Directorate hosts the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department, which is home to the Industrial Engineering group. The IE group serves to provide Lean Manufacturing innovation, support and analysis through:
Space and Facility Planning Project Management
Create and Update factory layout proposed updates in AutoCAD
Support analyses with process simulation tools
Prepare equipment utilization models for critical factory equipment.
Build and maintain workcenter capacity models. Identify constraints and work continuous improvement projects that improve throughput and enhance the delivery predictability
Plan and support changes to next generation platforms for Common Processes of Labor Standards, Model Based Process Sheet, Facility Planning, and more
Participate in Strategic Planning that align with Technology and Manufacturing Roadmaps at an RMD business unit and RTX corporate level
Re s p o n si b iliti e s to Anticipate :
Presenting capacity models regularly to factory leadership. Provide project management for corrective actions / improvement projects
Coordinate and manage manufacturing layout changes including Cost and Schedule of cross functional teams
Driving Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce waste using Six Sigma principles and data driven decision making
Providing real-time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators; in-house as well as the supply base.
Leading corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence
This position can be a P2 (Manufacturing Engineer) or P3 (Sr. Manufacturing Engineer) based upon the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibility requirements for the position.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), preferred majors include Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
2+ years of working in a manufacturing environment for P2 (Manufacturing Engineer) eligibility
5+ years of working in a manufacturing environment for P3 (Sr. Manufacturing Engineer) eligibility
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
