Job Summary:

The Test Equipment Maintenance and Repair Department (TEMR) in Andover, Massachusetts performs 14,400 annual Calibrations, 12,000 annual repairs for RMD Northeast Centers and supports over 400 Test Platforms in RMD Andover. TEMR is also involved in capital equipment planning as well as the introduction of solutions to address test equipment obsolescence. The TEMR Department consists of 85 employees and provides electrical and mechanical calibration and repair services of COTS test equipment as well as unique manual and automatic Raytheon-designed test systems.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Candidate will be expected to complete but not be limited to the following tasks:

Supervise and assign work for approximately 10 represented employees performing dimensional, force, temperature, torque and pressure calibrations in the TEMR Gage Lab

Support Safe Lab operation including proposing process improvements that enhance safe operations in the Lab.

Interpret requirements and develops written calibration procedures and work instructions for use by represented employees to meet quality requirements

Make recommendations to enhance existing systems and methods

Identify next-generation mechanical / measurement equipment to improve productivity

Analysis of calibration activity and suggestion of methods to meet reliability and performance targets

Develop solutions for mechanical and hydraulic problems in test stations

Develop yearly capital plan to include state of the art measurement equipment and techniques to improve upon existing methodologies

Candidate is expected to be a self-starter who can work with multiple priorities with minimal direct supervision. The employee is expected to become the department’s subject matter expert in dimensional, force, temperature and pressure calibrations. As such, the candidate will be expected to be able to quickly analyze problems and suggest innovative solutions.

An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) . Mechanical Engineering or Physics is preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in Mechanical/Geometric/Dimensional measurements and/or design of mechanical systems and applications

  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience

  • Hands on experience with common geometric/dimensional measurement and assembly tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gages, gage blocks, torque tools, etc.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • One year experience in supervision of represented employees

  • Proven experience with advanced measurement equipment such as: coordinate measurement machine, thread view machine, Moore measuring machine, laser micrometer, gage block comparator, electronic level, hardness tester, super micrometer, optical comparator, ROTAB

  • Proven experience with ANSI standards involving calibration such as Z540-1-1994, B89 series, ISO17025, etc.

  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Hands on calibration experience including set up work

  • Familiarity with environmental, pressure and vacuum equipment

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques

  • Six Sigma Specialist

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Air Force PMEL or Navy Metcal

  • Proven experience with Project Management

  • Active Confidential Clearance
