Seeking motivated 1st shift leader for Test Equipment and Maintenance Repair (TEMR) Technical Supervisor role at Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD), TEMR Department, located in Andover Massachusetts. The TEMR department performs approximately 14,000 annual Calibrations, 12,000 annual repairs, and offers maintenance repair and calibration support for over 450 test platforms supporting numerous production programs. The TEMR department also provides support in capital equipment planning, project development of new test platforms, as well as providing solutions to address test equipment obsolescence. The TEMR Department provides electrical and mechanical calibration and repair services of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) test equipment as well as unique manual and automatic test systems. The complement of test stations serviced includes digital/logic & solid state, Radio Frequency, DC low frequency, AC high power, vibration, in-circuit probe test, linear measurement, and burn-in among many others.
The Test Equipment and Maintenance Technical Supervisor will manage approximately eight represented employees. In this role the incumbent will be responsible for scheduling equipment repairs, test station calibrations, and preventative maintenance across multiple programs as well as all the hydraulic test equipment (pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, etc). The candidate will leverage communication skills through daily interaction with other cross-business teams in RMD to meet organizational and program goals and objectives. Some of these external groups include: Operations, Quality, Safety, Security, Test Equipment Design and Development, Test Engineering, Labor Relations, Finance and Facility Maintenance. Ensuring safety, cost, quality and delivery commitments while at the same time identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities are critical criteria for this position.
Responsibilities also include: workforce planning and forecasting, overtime coordination, employee training, time and attendance tracking, capital planning, control of overhead expenses and ensuring the enforcement of company policies and procedures. The incumbent leader must be able to effectively operate in a high tempo environment and be able to provide consistent communication and coordination with other TEMR leadership team members. A successful Technical Supervisor will be capable of multi-tasking, motivating team of represented employees, and prioritizing & implementing complex maintenance and repair activities.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Candidate will lead 1st shift TEMR activities with minimal supervision and will support electronic and test equipment maintenance for Sensors, AEGIS, ECO, and REX functional program areas among others.
Will follow, and ensure team follows appropriate safety practices; will utilize proper PPE, and will require same from team; will support efforts to maintain an injury free work place
Will lead represented Calibration Operators through troubleshooting faults in automated and semi-automated test equipment including circuit board testers, functional testers, and RF test stations
Direct & guide technicians in troubleshooting methodologies where vendor information may be incomplete or lacking
Troubleshooting includes repair of commercial off the shelf (COTS) test equipment and often highly complex production test stations, often to the component level
Must be able to prioritize and balance multiple assignments simultaneously and operate in a high tempo operations environment
Must provide high quality, on-time, communication and coordination with 1st shift leadership team.
An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or additional 2 years of related experience may be substituted for each 1 year of college
5 years of related experience leading repair and calibration of electrical/electronic test, measurement and diagnostic equipment
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
Able to use and apply schematics, drawings, and diagnostic tools, to isolate and repair equipment and station faults, often times in a high tempo environment where speed of troubleshooting directly impacts ability to meet contract commitments
Experience troubleshooting and repairing motors, synchro and resolvers, pumps, chillers, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Experience developing editing and improving preventative maintenance and calibration procedures using intuitive techniques and methodologies
Elevated computer literacy; proficient working Webview/PDM, and VBS
Understanding of metrology, and traceability to national standards, as well as experience using calibration management systems such as ASSET SMART or METCAL is a plus
Experience with ISO 17025 and ANSI Z540 metrology standards is a plus
OSHA training and safety zone auditing experience desired
Experience using common troubleshooting tools such as oscilloscopes, DMM’s, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, counters, signal generators, pulse generators
Prior supervisory experience with represented (union) employees preferred
Experience with Six Sigma, WPO, LEAN 6S principles or similar process improvement methodologies desired
Requires proficient experience with, and preparation of, reports and slides utilizing Microsoft Office suite of products…Outlook, Excel, Power Point
Experience with and understanding of general calibration philosophies and traceability to national standards
