Pratt & Whitney is planning to invest at least $650 million through 2027 in a world-class turbine airfoil production facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The new 1,000,000-square-foot facility will house an advanced casting foundry for the production of turbine airfoils as well as conduct machining, coating and finishing of airfoils onsite.

The new, state-of-the-art facility will implement best-in-class manufacturing technologies and processes exemplifying industry 4.0 manufacturing principles and will complement existing turbine airfoil work that is done across Pratt & Whitney’s facilities.

The Operational Excellence organization within the Asheville site is seeking an experienced and motivated Industrial Engineer to drive lean manufacturing and achieve OEE and OLE targets.

*This position will initially allow for remote work with the expectation that the candidate will relocate to Asheville, NC upon facility completion.

*Facility completion is currently expected mid-2022.

This position will work closely with Operations to analyze, set standards for, and improve business and manufacturing processes. A successful candidate has the following abilities:

  • Study process and product requirements through observation, time studies, etc.

  • Conduct capacity analysis to determine capital equipment and labor staffing to meet requirements

  • Conduct machine analysis to identify/manage improvement initiatives to increase effectiveness (OEE)

  • Conduct labor analysis to identify/manage improvement initiatives to increase effectiveness (OLE)

  • Identifying and leading continuous improvement projects

  • Assist with production scheduling, including incorporating product design changes

  • Design/redesign layouts of equipment and workspace to improve process flow

    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience in Industrial or Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

  • US Person Status required due to government contracts

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering; MBA

  • Ability to prioritize many details into a broad view of the total organization

  • Ability to work effectively with other engineers, technicians, operators, and management

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes

  • Data mining & manipulation experience with Excel, VBA, SQL, other methods

  • Strong analytical, creative thinking and project management skills

  • Strong time management skills, ability to multi-task and adaptable to changing priorities

  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal direction
