The Staff Software Engineer is an experienced engineer working with a global team of engineers to develop and certify real-time embedded software for aerospace applications.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills who works well in a team environment.
Develops project plans, schedules, and budgets for NPI projects and suggests appropriate adjustments to ensure adherence to the established project plan, schedule, and budget for software development
Adopts Agile mindset and drives planning sprints, daily action plans, and conduct retrospectives to meet software milestones and overall program objectives
Identifies software risks and works with the Value Stream Leadership (VSL) for effective mitigation. Pursue schedule and cost saving opportunities
Leads design activities and sets priorities as needed.
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers in the planning, design, development, verification and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
Determines end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.
Ensures standards are met.
Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support integrated hardware/software product development and use.
May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
May include model-based design/control modeling.
Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR
Advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Executes new product introduction, value engineering, and production support projects
Establishes software design requirements traceability, flow down requirements, development of code and test cases.
Hands on debugging of code during integration and lab testing.
Develops complex sub-system trade studies, algorithms, and error budgets.
Drives the usage of appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost effective technical solutions with heavy focus on platform design, reuse, and knowledge-management.
Experience in leading the development and certification of software per DO-178C is highly desired.
Hands-on experience developing software including CAN communications is highly desired.
