The Technical Services Group (TSG) is a full-service technology provider for the Cybersecurity, Training and Services (CTS) business within Raytheon Intelligence & Space. The TSG is a small group of technologists that provide a wide array of analysis, engineering, and administrative services for a variety of computer technologies. The group is responsible for operational management of high profile, customer-facing information systems that support Dept. of Defense contracts awarded to Raytheon Technologies. Support will include on and off-shift work as needed, and will involve occasional travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations. Job Description Develop and maintain of high-level design plans for overall logical and technical architecture of information systems and their components, based on analysis of requirements and constraints. Design, develop, and participate in deployment of end-to-end integrated systems and applications in concert with customer and software teams, including development and use of automated processes.
The team specializes in working collegially with Application System teams to drive adoption of DevSecOps processes and methodologies. We actively support multiple projects and contracts. Determine information system needs, advising application system designers on system characteristics that affect software performance, including but not limited to capacity planning, system architecture, and applicable Information Assurance policy. Work with technical staff across various organizations to understand and resolve software problems.
Support hardware components including (but not limited to) servers, storage systems, network routers and firewalls, workstations, printers, and specialty devices. Support software components including (but not limited to) operating systems, database system software, application server software, client application components, utility programs, and specialty third-party components as dictated by the needs of the customer. Required Capabilities Within the TSG, the Sr. Systems Administrator is required to work under general direction and will be responsible for leading specific projects to completion. Tasks shall include but are not limited to:
Maintain smooth operation of managed customer systems both locally and at remote customer locations.
Evaluate and tune information systems for security, performance, availability, and other factors as dictated by customer requirements.
Work with individuals from many different organizations (e.g. architects, analysts, software engineers, customers) to design and implement complex information systems across a variety of adverse operational conditions.
Plan and contribute to the detailed documentation on the configuration of managed systems.
Collaborate with all team members to maximize cross-functional knowledge.
Contribute towards continuous improvement of policies, processes, and procedures.
The best candidate(s) will provide demonstrable expertise in the above areas plus;
Experience with product deployments in a Department of Defense environment;
Substantial experience in working with application software engineers to collegially integrate your skills in the delivery of world-class Information Technology solutions to customers;
Experience in product development and sustainment with world-class Information and Communication Technology solutions to defense customers.
Experience leading project(s) for configuration and administration of networked systems. These systems must include one or both of
Microsoft Windows Domain Server systems
Familiar with security and Information Security system procedures and strong knowledge of data networking concepts, technologies and security best practices.
Possess strong operational experience with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies and trusted products operating on MS Windows and/or Red Hat Linux.
Ability to design, develop and maintain well-structured scripts to support resilient system configurations.
Demonstrate work history showing steady increase in breadth and depth of systems administration knowledge and related certifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to obtain and retain a Secret clearance.
Experience designing, implementing, and/or maintaining a system environment requiring DoD Information Assurance security controls and practices (i.e. systems requiring compliance to DoDI 8510.01 – Risk Management Framework), or DFARS requirement for DoDI 525.204-7012 which is typically used on internal systems.
Knowledge of Perl, Windows Scripting and Bash shell programming. Additional UNIX shell scripting dialects would be a plus.
Demonstrable skills & abilities in management and diagnostics of database servers (Oracle 12c & Microsoft SQL Server).
Experience with the configuration and administration of Cisco switches, routers, firewalls or other branded networking devices.
Experience working with VMware VSphere ESX based virtualization products and technologies for hosting Windows and Linux servers.
Familiarity with iSCSI based storage area networks.
Demonstrable skill in management and diagnostics of application servers such as Oracle 12c (Weblogic), Microsoft IIS, JBOSS or other relevant / DoD approved FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) application server or servlet managers.
Required Education: Bachelor degree in engineering or related STEM Degree with minimum of 4 years of related experience or HS Diploma/GED with 12 years of related experience.
