Collins Aerospace is looking for VCS Project Engineer that will participate on a multi-functional team that has responsibilities for full life cycle management of Video, Wireless, and Prognostic Health Management (PHM) products. As such, the Project Engineer will participate in various phases of development from new product introduction to entry into service and fielded product sustainment.

This position is an established Project Engineering professional who conducts engineering activities that further success of overall project objectives. Responsibilities include project plan creation, resource management, task execution leadership, and earned value management for effective communication of project status.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leading a cross-functional engineering team in the development and certification of aerospace products. The involved engineering functions include electrical, mechanical, software, and systems disciplines, along with engineering technician activities.

  • Acting as Engineering focal for customer engagements which include, but are not limited to, periodic status presentations, design reviews, and program status reviews.

  • Establishing (Bid and proposal), maintaining, and driving execution to plan for the development and certification of aerospace products.

  • Generating and maintaining schedules in Microsoft Project Server, and employing earned value management method.

  • Adhering to project cost goals by employing active scope and risk management through all phases of project development.

  • Capturing and reporting project status to Engineering Management and Program Office in support of monthly project and program reviews.

  • Interfacing with international engineering teams in support of product development activities.

  • Leading the IPT through all development phases resulting in a successful customer certification and deployment. Engagement typically begins during the proposal phase (Bid & Proposal) and ends with successful customer entry-into-service (EIS). The cross-functional IPT typically includes representatives from Engineering, Program Office, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality.

  • Effectively communicating project status to all stakeholders, including Senior and Executive Leadership, through periodic project reviews, program reviews, or other channels.

  • Building and maintaining positive customer relationships throughout the development lifecycle and representing the IPT to customers via periodic status calls, technical design reviews, program status reviews, or other means.

  • Effectively establishing, maintaining, and driving execution to the project plan throughout the development lifecycle. This includes ensuring clear definition, communication, and management of all program requirements including technical, cost, and schedule requirements. Driving execution in accordance with all internal and external customer schedules and cost targets, including both recurring and non-recurring cost targets.

  • Ensuring project execution is in compliance with all applicable business policies and processes.

Basic Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder .
