The Associate Director of Enterprise Cloud Architecture role is responsible for creating, sustaining and evolving Cloud Architecture at Collins Aerospace and ensuring that it is tightly aligned to Collins’ business strategy. This is a highly strategic role in the Collins Digital Technology (DT) organization and collaborates extensively with all areas of digital, business, and RTX ES and Digital Services.

This individual can sit at any Collins Aerospace domestic location or remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a cloud thought leader and architecture evangelist. Analyze industry, market and technology trends and forecast impacts on the enterprise cloud strategy

  • Lead and develop a team of seven cloud architects

  • Establish a culture focused on leadership development with a focus on enabling employees to “lean-in”, embrace stretch goals and improve themselves both personally and professionally

  • Ensure the continued development of the cloud architecture team by elevating their technical knowledge and business acumen

  • Create and maintain architectures that solve today’s challenges, envision the future and bridge from today to that future

  • Continuous "outside-in" scanning, to facilitate continuous learning, hands-on understanding, and adoption of Cloud Architecture, Industry Standards Methodologies and Techniques.

  • Challenge the status quo and assist with the creation of new cloud strategies and models using digital capabilities

  • Lead Collins Digital adoption of modern cloud services and capabilities

  • Create and Align architecture roadmaps to DT and Enterprise strategies

  • Prototyping and Piloting next gen solutions, demonstrating value to DT and the business and becoming a change agent for these solutions.

  • Lead innovation and research for technologies and solutions that are five years out

  • Provide consulting services to Collins Digital leadership to deliver change

  • Manage the cloud architecture practice by establishing quality metrics and continuously improving overall cloud processes.

  • Lead highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized architecture domains.

  • Communication – Clearly and succinctly communicate with key business partners, including senior executives, and gain trust and buy-in of stakeholders to align and deliver outcomes. Must be able to build long term business relationships.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience. In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must be willing and able to travel 20% of the time

  • 5+ years of experience as a leader in a technology organization.

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture or operations

Preferred qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, or related field

  • Well versed in cloud API and serverless deployments

  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks/methodologies such as TOGAF and Zachman

  • Experience conceiving and delivering innovative solutions leveraging technology and information

  • Experience in supporting diverse businesses and geographies

  • Ability to successfully manage and execute multiple, large scale projects

  • Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining highly collaborative, flexible, and productive cross-organization teams

  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts

  • Experience with Agile development methodology

  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect

  • DoD Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance
