Position Overview

The Collins Aerospace Air Transport Systems Engineering department is looking for an entry level software engineer to join the avionics software displays team. This position will work closely with the rest of the engineering team to define requirements, design, develop code, and integrate and verify the functionality of the software in the engineering lab. This software is developed to the highest critical level, so attention to detail is a must for this position. The ideal candidate will soon be completing or have recently completed a degree.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply domain knowledge and software development processes (requirements, design, development, test, release) with primary emphasis on software design and development using coding best practices.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to incorporate the appropriate processes and tools into product development, resulting in increased product quality and improved customer satisfaction.

  • Design, code, integrate, regression test, test and document software in areas such as: software problem reports, change requests, software components, and software test scripts.

  • Perform software debugging using appropriate techniques and tools.

  • Contribute to cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems.

  • Provide engineering estimates for individual work on tasks similar to those previously performed.

  • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis and creation for well-defined software designs.

  • Individual job duties may vary.

  • This position requires a commitment to professional working hours that extend beyond a typical 40 hour work week.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and less than 2 years prior relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
