Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for experienced engineers in our Business & Regional Avionics Flight Management Applications department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software-only products. The position will be a hybrid role and will require onsite presence. Relocation assistance is available once we return to the site.
Project engineering duties include leading a cross-functional team daily and coordinating regularly with engineering and project management to ensure success of the product and program.
Manages overall project requirements, coordination of different teams for large or complex projects
Monitors budgets, cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities and make recommendations to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met.
Manages work-processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects.
Will be involved in feature development tasks, including design implementation plans, system requirements, system level integration testing
Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and makes recommendations for the generation of verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
Researches, evaluates and recommends investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's systems products and services.
Trains less experienced engineers, applies expert knowledge to issues, and creates common work practices.
Bachelor’s degree (Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Must have experience with full life cycle systems engineering processes
Familiarity with software development process
Must have project management or some experience leading teams
Demonstrated time management skills - ability to work unsupervised, multi-task, and coordinate work
Excellent communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
Willingness to travel (domestic and international <20%)
Aerospace industry experience is preferred
DO-178 or similar certification-based development experience is preferred
AGILE development experience is preferred
