Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to provide leadership of a team responsible for development of safety critical video and graphics processing FPGAs and ASIC devices used in a broad portfolio of Collins avionics displays and display processing products. This growing organization has the charter to develop cost competitive solutions enabling Collins to maintain an industry leading avionics position in both the commercial and military marketspaces. Aircraft platforms are wide-ranging from commercial air transport and business jet to military rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft.

Candidates must have strong technical, organizational, and leadership skills as well as a good project management understanding to enable predictable execution by the team. They will be responsible for performance management, talent acquisition, and career development to position the team for strong performance now and into the future. The candidate should show the ability to motivate and empower a team through passion and enthusiasm. An individual in this role will also interface with technical and non-technical personnel across many business areas within Collins Aerospace as well as external customers requiring excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for success of the team in meeting planned program milestones and activities

  • Responsible for adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements, along with planning and budgeting

  • Responsible for developing team staffing plans to meet a wide variety of technical projects

  • Actively participates in team’s technical activities in order to coach and influence the team

  • Actively evaluates individual employee performance and career development needs

  • Oversees and participates in development of engineering bids to ensure success

  • Responsible for continually growing team capabilities through career development and on-boarding of new hires.

  • Occasional travel both domestically and internationally

    Required Qualifications:

  • Must have bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline and 8 years of relevant experience ORAdvanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience ORIn the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have experience with performing bid and pursuit efforts.

  • Must be able to demonstrate experience in leading a team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams in a formal engineering manager role

  • Experience with product design and development life cycle activities including requirement capture, detailed design, and verification activities focused on FPGA/ASIC devices

  • Experience with DO-254 development and verification process

  • Experience with parametric bid estimating methodology (SEER)

  • Familiarity with digital circuit architecture and design

  • Familiarity with FPGA simulation, synthesis and place/route tools, FPGA lab integration and troubleshooting knowledge, hardware testbench development for in-circuit verification

  • Familiarity with image generation and processing including interface protocols (ARINC 661, ARINC 818, H.264/265, PCIe, SMPTE, DisplayPort, Analog Video, LVDS, etc.)
