The Collins Aerospace Avionics Platform Software Department is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join our leadership team. Our department is growing, as we have a number of exciting avionics programs lined up to execute! We are seeking a motivated individual to lead a group of engineers who design, certify, and support a variety of platform software products, primarily serving our Business & Regional Avionics and Commercial Avionics markets. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading avionics development teams with civil certification requirements.

Technical leadership for a group of low-level software and subsystems engineers to ensure commitments are met
Proactively support the development of a team of engineers with a wide range of experience
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to understand program needs & challenges; lead the team to generate and execute plans which deploy appropriate solutions to meet all applicable process, regulatory, and customer requirements
Work in a dynamic environment, where juggling current commitments and generating innovative plans for the future are the norm
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR
In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Work from the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area at a full-time schedule (cannot be fully remote)
Leadership experience in avionics software (DO-178C) and integrated modular avionics (DO-297) development & certification
Has the ability to quickly understand and lead the team through complex certification scenarios
The successful candidate will lead the engineering team using strong interpersonal, mentoring, and negotiating skills
Proven track record of successful project execution leadership, while meeting cost, schedule, scope, and quality commitments
Possess a collaborative way of working, particularly in a matrix environment
Demonstrated success in balancing business needs and affordability
Strong written & oral communicator and change agent; able to interface with the spectrum of individual contributors to executive leadership
