This position is for senior electronics engineering lab technician in the Component & Material Evaluation Laboratory. We perform testing to ensure devices meet published electrical, mechanical and environmental criteria as part of the qualification process and when devices fail, we are called upon to employ our expertise and suite of analytical tools to assist in determining Root Cause. The successful candidate will become part of a high performing team that is recognized for providing outstanding customer service, collaboration and having fun along the way.

Primary responsibilities include interpreting Rockwell Collins specifications, vendor data sheets, Military and Industry standards and then defining test set-ups to acquire the data requested by the Component Engineers or engineering customers. Design and build test fixtures as needed, perform testing, provide detailed documentation and summarize the testing or analysis performed in an existing database.

The candidate will use a wide range of standard electronic test equipment; oscilloscopes, DVM’s, power supplies, counters, signal generators, network and spectrum Analyzers etc. The successful candidate will also be exposed to and trained on a wide range of unique electronics test equipment such as LCR bridges, Hi-Pot testers, Meg-ohm meters, high end microscopes, cross sectioning equipment, curve tracers and running a 2-D X-Ray system. As experience, ability and lab needs develop, there may be opportunity to participate in failure analysis and learn to operate other unique instruments such as 3-D X-Ray, Acoustic Imaging, X-Ray Fluorescence, Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) and FTIR.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong electronics background

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. The position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills as frequent interaction with team members, engineers and leadership is needed to convey test results, determine next steps and recommend solutions.

  • Ability to work well independently and as member of a high-performance team.

  • A strong desire to learn and develop new skills

  • Must receive a passing score on the electronics theory test.

  • High School Diploma or AA/AS degree or other 2-year post high school training with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

  • US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of circuit design, component application and troubleshooting is desired.

  • Experience with LabView or C++ enabling modification of existing automated test programs or development of new ones would be a bonus.
