Raytheon Technologies Sr Tech Support Engineer II in China Lake Acres, California
Raytheon Field Engineering is seeking a Senior Technical Support Engineer II to advise and mentor our customers and end users on the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of the APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) RADAR system on F/A-18 E/F and EA-18G Aircraft. This engineer shall be responsible to analyze equipment failures to determine root cause and recommend corrective action. This position is based out of Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake, CA and may require some travel.
Typical tasks include but are not limited to the following:
Provide APG-79 training to all squadron maintainers and aircrew as needed.
Perform continuous trend analysis in an effort to capture software/hardware faults.
Work to improve APG-79 troubleshooting techniques.
Report all technical activity and participate in BIT evaluation teleconferences weekly.
Collaborate with government agencies and other contractors to maintain good communication in support of APG-79 radar.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
Ability to analyze faults and oversee the troubleshooting and maintenance of the F/A-18 APG-79 AESA or similar system.
Solid understanding of airborne fire control and reconnaissance RADAR systems.
Ability to provide day-to-day technical support and work the required shifts to meet the squadron maintenance schedules.
Ability to function under operational pressures to meet flight schedules and operational requirements.
Represent Raytheon to external customers in both CONUS and OCONUS locations as required.
Apply extensive technical expertise on APG-79 RADAR and full knowledge of Naval operations.
Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to complete comprehensive and accurate reports.
Ability to interact with military customer and other contractor/government personnel in a diverse team setting.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
U.S. SECRET Clearance - (Current Existing Clearance)
Previous experience as a field representative in support of US Navy systems.
Be a self-motivated and have the ability to perform with limited supervision.
Familiar with military environment and customers courtesies.
Required Education (including Major):
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field and a minimum of 6 years of experience and/or a combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for the degree.
Clearance Type - Must have existing Secret Clearance that is less than six years since last adjudication and ability to obtain and maintain Secret/SAR approval within one year.
May require working in a hazardous area (e.g. aircraft carrier environment) while providing APG-79 Radar technical support.
Shall provide support to NAWS China Lake, CA active squadron operations in hazardous avionics areas.
