Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Software Engineer - Enterprise Services

Colorado Springs, CO


  • Lead software development in the Java language for the Enterprise Services product team.

  • Review and approval of systems engineering requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and software architecture artifacts

  • performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support

  • Maintain currency, debugs and configures related software products

  • Create specifications to develop or modify system applications

  • Guide team members with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs

  • Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, setting standards and improving overall efficiency of the system

  • Lead design, code, test and implementation of tools for operations automation

Required Technical Skills:

  • Software engineering and software development with Java/JEE experience

  • Experience and knowledge of software practices such as coding standards and configuration management

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to lead effectively in a rapid paced, team environment

  • Capable of applying advanced technical principles to development of enterprise applications for large distributed systems

  • Advanced expertise with Java foundation classes and toolkits

  • Experience with server side/database development and computer system administration

  • Ability to develop advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product

  • Experience leading Agile teams

  • Use of common software development and management tools such as git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence and Eclipse

  • Experience developing standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams

Experience in some or all of the following areas desired:

  • Previous C2BMC or related command and control system experience

  • Experience with Software Integration testing including developing automated test scrips

  • Problem solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root cause, and guide development of solutions

  • Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify mitigation

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to work autonomously and will possess the poise and flexibility to work in a highly adaptable environment

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office products

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field from an accredited college, with 10 years of professional experience. Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree

  • Security+ or equivalent desired

Other: Active current DoD Secret Clearance.

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $108,100 to $210,800; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment
