Staff Photonics Engineer - Advanced Technology

Design, build, and demonstrate photonic network systems needed to execute US Government research and development contracts
Perform forward looking company sponsored research and development projects
Write reports detailing test results to stakeholders, including government sponsors
Formulate novel concepts, technologies and strategies in support of new business capture activities
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Excellent written and oral communication abilities, along with confident presentation skills
Works well in a group environment to include engineers, technicians, and support personnel
The ideal candidate will have working experience in the theory, application, design, and implementation of photonic communication systems.
Familiarity with the state-of-the-art of optical communication system architectures
The ability to construct and utilize an optical network testbed
A broad system foundational knowledge that spans high-speed (>10 Gbps) hardware, network protocols, flexible spectral allocation, optical waveforms, optical switching and grooming, and other aspects of network node design and management.
