Raytheon Technologies Principal ASIC / MMIC EDA Applications Engineer in Dallas, Texas

Job Description:

The Digital Technology (DT) Engineering Solutions – Electrical Engineering team is seeking an experienced Electronics Design Automation (EDA) Applications Engineer with strong knowledge in Analog, Digital, and Mixed-Signal ASICs and MMIC design methodologies. The candidate’s primary duties include the support of the engineering application lifecycle, including application deployment, design engineering support, problem resolution, integration, license management, computing infrastructure and configuration. This position requires strong communication skills and leadership qualities. The selected individual will assume a senior technical contributor role with the ability to identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and work collaboratively with a diverse team.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Assistance on maintaining and improving current ASIC and MMIC EDA design environment

  • Guiding design team on how to efficiently utilize available compute resources

  • Provide tool installation, licensing support and design data management

  • Advocate for modern best-practices in EDA flow and cross-train ASIC designers

  • Developing methodologies for ASIC tape-out tasks to ensure DFM and foundry requirements

    Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of demonstrated related industry experience

  • Working knowledge of ASIC and MMIC design & verification flow methodologies and implementation processes

  • Experience in Engineering application administration and technical support

  • Linux and/or Windows administration including license management and compliance

  • Hands-on use and/or administration of ASIC/MMIC EDA tools including:

  • Cadence Virtuoso/EMX/Spectre/PVS/QRC/Xcelium/Genus/Innovus/Tempus

  • Mentor Calibre DRC/LVS/xAct/PERC/SmartFill/MAS/Pattern Match

  • Keysight ADS

  • Ansoft HFSS

  • ClioSoft SOS

  • Experience working with BiCMOS, SOI, and advanced node FinFet PDKs

  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, suppliers, co-workers, customers and meet commitments

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Desired Skills:

  • ASIC/MMIC design tools knowledge

  • FPGA and/or Signal/Power Integrity Analysis are a plus

  • Knowledge in Cadence SKILL, and scripting languages such Python, Perl and Tcl

  • Experience with ClioSoft administration (SOS version control, multi-site collaboration and data caching)

  • Experience with High-Powered Computing (HPC) environment and/or Distributed Computing Platforms (LSF, SLURM, Citrix, etc.)

  • Familiar with managing different versions of applications using Linux Module files

  • Familiar with terminal emulator and network file transfer application such as Putty and/or remote access solutions such as OpenText Exceed OnDemand, VNC, xRDP, etc.

  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Familiar with RunTime Design Automation (RTDA) management and license monitoring

  • Ability to prepare meeting summary and management level briefings

  • Experience with consulting and effectively engaging with cross-functional teams

    Required Education (including Major):

    Typically, Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, and 5 years relevant experience or 13 years experience in lieu of degree
