The position is flexible in location and can be filled in either the greater Boston-MA, Dallas-TX, Tucson-AZ, San Diego-CA or Los Angeles-CA areas.

US Citizenship statues required as this position needs active US Security Clearance within one year of employment

This position will design, deliver, and support commercially available engineering software for RMD Systems & Software Engineers who leverage Model-based Engineering (MBE) and DevOps principles to enable digital transformation and engineering efficiencies.

Develop, automate, and package software solutions to enable our Engineers to begin utilizing capabilities faster and more reliably to support our global customer programs!

This role within RMD Information Technology is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Solution Delivery organization.

The primary responsibility for this position is design, deliver, and support complex software solutions for our Systems, Systems Test, and Software engineering functions.

This role will also lead partnered efforts across IT and Engineering functions to continuously improve solutions and validate that they are providing intended business value.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Partner with engineering to identify capability gaps to support development of IT solutions to support business needs

Deliver and maintain commercially available software solutions, including client and server based applications

Develop automation using industry standard languages and technologies to streamline and simplify application deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and upgrade activities

Investigate and provide answers to application related questions surrounding usage, best practices, and problems

Author documentation capturing processes, procedures, work instructions, and design artifacts

Administer and maintain solution security and compliance by leading hardening, patching, recovery, and upgrade efforts via partnerships with other IT functions

Develop software tool customization and automation, including the development of templates, dashboards and scripts required to support engineering needs

Provide technical guidance to management to support solution infrastructure requirements, tool selection, license purchase decisions, and problem resolution

Develop and execute on tool retirement/migration plans to enable program continuity during transitions to newer solutions and technologies

Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing via technical guidance and mentorship to colleagues

Collaborate and partner with counterparts at other business units to help develop scaled, sharable solutions to benefit all of Raytheon

Minimum Required Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in IT or STEM and minimum of 6 years of experience or a Master degree and 4 years of directly related experience or lieu of degree 8 years of additional years of experience

Experience deploying, testing, administrating, troubleshooting, and supporting integrated software applications in an enterprise business environment, including server based tools with database components

Experience with networking, security, storage, and operating system concepts in order to troubleshoot and resolve issues that impact application availability and/or stability

Experience in a technical support role with a passion and the tenacity for solving challenging technical problems in a fast-paced and complex environment with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

Experience administrating RedHat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft operating systems

Experience with relational databases and an ability to troubleshoot backup/recovery, connectivity, and availability issues (Oracle, MySql, and/or MSSQL)

Experience scripting such as (Bash, Ruby, Python, POSH, Java Script, etc.)

Experience with Agile concepts, methodologies, and development frameworks

Must be a US Citizen

Highly Desired Skills and Experience:

Highly organized with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization as an individual and in a team setting, with a focus on attention to detail and time management

Experience with Infrastructure as Code/deployment automation platforms (Chef Automate, Ansible, Puppet, Chocolatey, etc)

Experience deploying and/or supporting modern DevOps toolchains using products such as Jira, Git, Confluence, Collaborator, Coverity, Azure Devops Server, and Jenkins

Experience with web-centric technologies like WebSphere, Tomcat, XML/XSL, HTML, Javascript, HTTPS/SSL/TLS, and LDAP

Experience deploying and/or supporting Model-based Engineering toolchains such as IBM Rational Continuous/Engineering Lifecycle Manager

Experience/familiarity with other engineering tools such as IBM ClearCase, ClearQuest, Synergy, DOORS, MATLAB, etc

Working knowledge of OLSC and REST-based API’s

Experience working with and supporting virtualization technology and cloud (VMWare, Docker, AWS)

Experience with container technology (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift)

Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles

Technical lead and/or project management experience
