The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon and Intelligence (RIS) to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.
The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) designs and develops electronics and test equipment for RF, EW, Communications and EO sensors. The Center provides engineering, technology development, and manufacturing support for an extensive line of airborne, ground, and space-based systems. The team focuses on development of assembly methods, materials, and processes for current and next generation microwave and mmwave products, with a very heavy emphasis on cutting-edge automation and materials. You will work hand-in-hand with product engineers, quality engineers, reliability engineers, and manufacturing engineers to produce microelectronic packages.
The candidate’s specific work will vary but may include the following:
Developing and implementing materials and processes, process improvements, and equipment selection using established statistical process control techniques, experimental designs, material analysis, and mechanical design analysis
Analysis and evaluation of materials, equipment and processes (including qualification, acceptance testing, and specification development)
Candidate will be expected to follow established procedures and standards to ensure manufacturing requirements are met
Interfacing with key internal and external suppliers to resolve technical issues
You will be expected to provide recommendations to a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. This role is required to work 3rd shift
Ability to work with hand tools and mechanical machines
Experience with MS Office tool suite
Statistical Process Control (SPC) and statistical data analysis
Design of Experiment (DOE) techniques
Knowledge of non-destructive test – SEM, FTIR, XRF
Knowledge of destructive test – shear, tensile strength testing a plus
Knowledge of material properties relationships, Mil-Std- 833 and JEDEC test methods
Knowledge of SMT Assembly
Willingness to learn assembly processes and to develop a “hands-on” understanding of the equipment
Ability to work in a clean room environment
Personal flexibility to support (on-call and on-site) factory production
Desire to be hands on and in a factory environment
Strong communication (verbal and written) and people skills
Ability to demonstrate delivery quality and timely results
Experience working in a lab environment and with standard lab tools
Self-motivated, proactive and able to multi-task
Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical, chemical, or material engineering fields and general knowledge of other related disciplines
Have strong technical aptitude as shown by strong grades or hands on lab experience
Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects
Experience working within a team environment
High school, secondary school or equivalent with 8 years of experience. May require vocational or technical education in addition to prior work experience.
