The Physical Sciences Department at the Raytheon Technologies Research Center has an exciting opportunity for a research technician in the area of Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Behavior. The position will entail working with a dynamic interdisciplinary team that develops solutions for product and material development challenges. The candidate will be part of a team responsible for application development and execution of test protocols to assess the mechanical performance of advanced materials, components, and structures. The team is integral to many of the innovation research projects at Raytheon Technologies Research Center. The team also works with the various business units of RTX to resolve technical issues.
Specific required job responsibilities include:
Operation and programming of servohydraulic and electromechanical load frames
Instrumentation and data acquisition configuration
Utilization of industrial equipment for coatings and materials deposition
Data reduction and plot creation
Optional job responsibilities include:
Test rig fabrication / machining
Wear and tribology testing and evaluation
Welding experience or familiarity
Robotic device programming
AA/AS degree, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or other post high school training (two years duration) with minimum of 5 years experience preferred
The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of mechanical testing and materials property validation, specifically generating and reducing experimental data. In addition, experience with test instrumentation, test rig fabrication, material test equipment, data acquisition systems, and/or electrical systems would be ideal.
