This role is key to Pratt & Whitney’s operational transformation and modernization, directly impacting safety, quality, productivity and cost. Responsibility to include direct linkage to pervasive lean, process control, automation, manufacturing technologies, and connected manufacturing. This is a key position enabling our Operations team to deliver on the Operational Excellence (OpX) vision. Primary Job Responsibilities:

In this role, the candidate will lead the centralized standardization and expertise in system level processing and coordinate Pratt & Whitney sites in the application of both standalone machine and integrated systems.

  • Leadership role in the engineering and execution of standards as related to automated manufacturing systems. Responsibilities and deliverables include:

  • Automated system gap analysis to world class across the enterprise

  • Method analysis

  • System layout

  • Fixture and tooling standardization

  • Process flow maps

  • Species Matrix

  • Ergonomic Engineering

  • System bill of material

  • Controls line ups

  • Robot simulation coordination

  • Automated system PFMEA

  • Mechanical Engineering Standardization

  • Approved Component List including Manufacture and SKU

  • Work closely with Shop Operations & Facility Management to implement the standardized specification through production integration and create the manufacturing maintenance proficiency

  • Applying expertise to technical problem resolution for current and future projects.

  • Communicating at all levels within RTX and Pratt & Whitney, as well as externally, tapping technical resources, forming teams and consulting with programs

Meeting all Environmental Health & Safety and Preventative Maintenance requirements associated with manufacturing development

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers to deliver automated manufacturing systems to ensure the optimal engineered solution to meet all production goals

  • Work directly with Module Center/Engine Center leadership enabling organizations to identify and prioritize improvement utilizing automation as we transform our industrial footprint

  • Lead responsibility to integrate within RTX Industry 4.0 team on behalf of Pratt & Whitney relative to automation strategy

  • Provide an expert level of understanding of integrated system engineering and execution to all levels of the organization

  • Communicate with business partners both local, remote, internally, and externally

  • Facilitate the capital procurement process to execute automation projects

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 10+ years experience in System Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or Related Discipline

  • 10+ years of experience in automated systems, specifically in manufacturing environments

  • US Citizen due to program requirements

  • The ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent judgment and professional maturity

  • The ability to create positive relations and craft clear communication

  • AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, and MS Office Suite.

  • Strong communication, collaboration and team building skills; ability to connect with all levels of the organization

  • Candidate should be self-starter and able to work with minimal direction

  • Extensive experience with integrated systems engineering utilizing a broad range of products manufactured by the automated system.

  • Extensive experience troubleshooting different component manufactures and applications

  • Deep market knowledge of the procurement of equipment.

  • Understanding of controls best practices

  • Understanding of safety protocol and best practices as related to automation.

  • Experience with evaluation and implementation of life cycle cost

  • Approximately 0-10% travel required for this position
