Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) Gear Turbo Fan (GTF) 24K/17K Fan/Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) Design Supervisor responsible for the following, but not limited to:
Lead the 24K/17K Fan/LPC Design Team administratively and technically under the guidance of the GTF Fan/LPC Design Associate Director, whom the candidate will report to.
Responsible for integration within the 24K/17K Fan & LPC Component Integration Product Teams (CIPT’s), and with partners, mating modules and system design disciplines in execution of design tasks supporting commercial engine products.
Able to step in for the Design Associate Director when needed.
Assist Design Associate Director in organizing and managing task assignments & planning, manpower requirements and coordinating in-house and outsource resources.
Performance feedback and results for the group. Coach, train and develop junior design engineers.
Cradle-to-grave design support, from preliminary through detailed design, development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service.
Provide design support for in service field investigations.
Provide support for multidiscipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight.
Ensure outsourcing work is completed, reviewed and approved by design associates with appropriate proficiency level.
Coordinate with other groups to read across lessons learned, advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
Documentation and communication of results to management.
BS in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience and 5+ years prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and 3+ years experience.
7+ years of design and/or aerospace engineering experience.
5+ years experience of demonstrated leadership skills in planning and executing engineering tasks within team environment.
U.S. citizenship required due to government contracts.
Able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance due to government contracts.
Masters in Engineering or MBA.
Experience with gas turbine components.
Experience in the design of fan or compressor hardware.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.
Experience in either development or production environment executing hardware designs.
Capability to work and lead in collaboration with other non-collocated teams.
Ability to work across functions, organizations, and all levels of management.
Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles.
Ability to mentor and develop staff.
Team leadership experience.
Strong analytical, problem solving and trending skills.
Focus on results and driving tasks to completion.
Exceptional people and problem solving skills.
