The Pratt & Whitney Military Engines F135 Sustainment organization is seeking an experienced individual to support engine inspection / mechanic requirements at the Japan F-35 Airframe Final Assembly and Check Out (FACO) and Airframe Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul and Upgrade (MRO&U) facility in Nagoya, Japan.
This position will be part of a small P&W international team comprised of two Field Service Engineers and three Engine Technician/Inspectors. The team will be responsible for ensuring that all Propulsion related tasks/requirements are met in support of aircraft assembly by the host customer of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI)/Japan Ministry of Defense/Lockheed Martin.
The assignment is expected to be 18-24 months in duration; however, it could be longer or shorter based on customer / business needs. You must be willing to work with international customers with potential language barriers and cultural differences.
In this role, you are responsible for performing all necessary work to maintain, build, inspect and instrument F135 gas turbine engines in accordance with company and customer directives.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Provide daily support for flight line, factory floor, engine shop or test cell operations.
-Investigate problems and make repairs or modifications as necessary to engine, module, and components per applicable directives.
-Perform routine maintenance of support equipment.
-Handle process-related waste in accordance with approved procedures.
-Collaborate with team members and international customers as needed. Perform EH&S inspections and related work.
-Train co-workers and international customers.
-Utilize ACE tools and methodologies to support work. Support/lead team projects/activities.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
-Must be flexible to work overtime, weekends or rotate to an alternate shift when required.
-Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally to support temporary duty assignments.
-High School diploma or GED required.
-Employees pending final approval for inspection certifications will be considered with verification from their current manager of their status. Employees who are former inspectors will be considered only if they are able to obtain PW Quality Certification upon assuming role.
-3+ years of experience in the tear-down, build-up or inspection of jet engines is required.
-Must have Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance. This must be maintained throughout the assignment.
- Must be able to obtain required work visas and permits within the normal process time through Global Mobility.
-US citizenship required due to government contract
-Some college preferred.
-A&P license or equivalent military experience preferred.
-Experience with flexible borescope use and care.
-Ability to move heavy objects as required.
-Ability to use measuring devices.
-Proficient in using Microsoft Office software (e.g. MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and interactive maintenance computer systems.
-Must be self-motivated and able to work without direction.
-Must be detail oriented & performs quality work with accuracy.
-Strong team work and communications skills are a must.
-Ability to work in environment where processes may or may not be fully established.
-Ability to work in foreign country with potential language barriers and cultural differences.
