F135 Engineering Design and System Integration is looking for a highly motivated, team oriented, and results driven Systems Engineer to support the development, modeling, and analysis of the F135 propulsion system. The responsibilities of the assignment include: system-level cycle modeling, engine and aircraft data analysis, execution of various analytical studies, pre- and post-test predictions, generation of performance tables, execution of Monte Carlo analysis and other statistical analysis, generation of FADEC performance schedules, and data matching of engine simulations. The experience and skills developed in an engine systems performance assignment are foundational to many of the leadership positions within the propulsion and aerospace business to develop strong analytical and problem solving skills needed to lead technical teams that develop world class engines.
Key Responsibilities: (include, but are not limited to the following)
Represent the performance discipline on various cross-functional teams interfacing with various systems and component groups as well as with airframe customers. The performance engineer is responsible for using the system-level signature of the engine to identify where further development is needed.
Provide leadership to test and analysis plans, and use cycle fundamentals for thermodynamics and matching for root cause engineering or engine optimization.
Growth opportunities include additional multi-disciplinary leadership in aircraft performance, control definition, advanced modeling techniques, and test disciplines for military engine platforms.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience and 2+ years of prior relevant experience in a technical assignment within an Engineering organization.
Work schedule: Hybrid, working alternately in-office and remotely.
US Citizenship required due to government contracts.
Up to 10% travel.
Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or the equivalent and 1+ years of prior relevant experience in a technical assignment within an Engineering organization
Competent in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: thermodynamics, gas dynamics, aerodynamics, statistics, and software design.
Practical experience with systems analysis tools especially NPSS and Python is preferred.
Strong communication, analytical, teaming skills, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment is required.
Professional experience in both engine and aircraft performance is preferred.
