PW100: East Hartford 400 Main Street, East Hartford, CT, 06118 USAResponsibilities/Accountabilities As a senior failure analysis engineer, you will investigate distressed gas turbine engine components to document and identify the distress mode and potential contributions to same. The investigation process involves a thorough assessment of the component's condition including conformance to material, manufacturing, design and assembly specifications for a wide range of commercial, military and developmental engine parts. To be successful in this position, you should have the following experience: Basic Qualifications
B.S. degree in materials science, metallurgy or mechanical engineering
5+ years of engineering or Failure Analysis experience or 3+ years with an advance degree
U.S. citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
M.S. degree in materials science, metallurgy or mechanical engineering
Fully proficient with metallurgical laboratory assessment techniques (optical microscopy, high mag photography, metallography, scanning electron microscope evaluation of fracture surfaces, etc.)
2 years Experience working in the field of Failure Analysis performing systematic investigations using established processes
Experience in the metallurgical investigation of aerospace alloy systems operating in a gas turbine engine environment (i.e. titanium alloys, bearing and gear steels, and nickel-based super alloys)
Ability to identify material failure modes
Direct experience working with root cause investigation tools (i.e. fault trees, fishbone diagrams, etc.)
Understanding of engineering design practice, non-destructive test methods and material/manufacturing processing techniques
Excellent business judgment and professional maturity
Extraordinary communication skills will be needed to successfully provide the required oral communications, presentations and written reports to our internal and external customers
Basic Microsoft Office PC skills
The ability to perform in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
