Pratt & Whitney Mechanical Systems Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) Module Center is seeking a goal oriented, detail-focused Design Engineer – Mechanical System Design Engineer to work for our Advanced Military Design Team based in East Hartford , CT. In this role you will be involved with various conceptual, preliminary and detail design activities related to military architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical solutions to integrate mechanical systems hardware into current engine studies.

  • Mechanical Systems hardware includes bearings, seals, supports, stack hardware, tubes, etc – so you’ll have the opportunity to design a variety of components within the engine.

  • Execute design process following ESW and EKS. Report compliance and deviations. Support productivity improvements for designs and the design process in general. Be vocal about what you want to learn and areas you desire to grow.

  • Potential to support design leads in overarching efforts such as additive manufacturing, interface coordination, DMU and cross-section management, etc

  • Support the development and implementation of AGILE for task management and progress tracking.


  • BS Degree Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience and 3+ years of prior relevant experience.

  • 2+ years of engineering experience, with Mechanical Systems design experience preferred

  • Holds a current security clearance strongly preferred.

  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to work on-site in a secure environment full time. Due to the nature of the programs this team supports, there is minimal opportunity for working from home or in a hybrid model.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
