The Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) Organic Matrix Composites group is seeking a polymeric materials lab Technician. The successful candidate will be a member of a cohesive team of engineers and technicians focused on polymer composites, adhesives and elastomeric material for jet engine applications. Key functions of the job include fabrication of polymer matrix composites and adhesively bonded test panels and specimens, test coupons machining and preparation, performance of laboratory testing, and organization and communication of test data and results. The candidate must possess experience and very strong affinity for working with and troubleshooting laboratory equipment and instruments, and must have exceptional technical, teaming and communication skills. Strong organizational skills are required for effective daily planning and execution of complex laboratory tasks to achieve projects milestones and deliverables. The successful candidate must have familiarity with the fabrication processes, testing and characterization techniques for polymer composites, adhesives and elastomers.
AA/AS Associates degree (or other 2-year post high school training), or BS/BA Bachelor’s degree
6+ years of experience as a Technician
Familiar with fabrication processes, testing and characterization techniques for polymer composites, adhesives and elastomers
US citizen due to program requirements
Ability to obtain DOD security clearance
BS or BA Bachelor’s degree
Experience with fabrication processes, testing and characterization techniques for polymer composites, adhesives and elastomers
DOD security clearance
