PW Repair & Supplier Logistics (RSL) is a repair/service business located on the PW East Hartford Campus in Connecticut. The business supports repairs, overhauls, and services for a variety of engine components, engineering requirements, and key business processes.
The RSL Operations Manager position reports to the Business Unit Associate Director and is directly responsible for driving the tactical execution of the business and is looked upon to provide key support for all the strategic deliverables for this Repair Unit. This is a key operations leadership role for this location and directly influences the delivery and quality of our products and processes.
The operations manager is responsible for leading production flow, logistics, and all cell functions. The manager will ensure continuous product supply and focus on timely delivery to be completed to all customers and maintain specific responsibility to key identified customers. The Candidate will also oversee a staff of 4 hourly individuals and is expected to provide leadership and functional responsibility for project management, service offerings, and existing support with any new customer proposals.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain metrics for the cell
Understand all inventory requirements and manage day to day needs
Provide leadership to the procurement team and understand productivity and on time delivery (OTD) improvements
Conduct daily/weekly toolbox meetings
Demonstrate ethical leadership and compliance and support diversity initiatives as required
Work to manage/reduce OSHA recordable rates by supporting all EH&S efforts and completing injury reporting processes in a timely manner
Develop and maintain a relationship with the bargaining unit
Support Continuous Improvement (ACE) assessment efforts
Understand cost of poor quality (COPQ) goals and work to achieve
Utilizing the continuous improvement (ACE) tools to improve all aspects of the business.
Manage all aspects of assigned hourly workforce – Attendance, Training, Communications, etc
Strong focus and commitment to meeting customer needs. Individual is responsible for driving quick resolution of safety, quality, and other technical issues as required.
The successful candidate must have the ability to work with all levels of management, employees and customers, and have key skills in leading this cell with lean process flow, project management, quality improvement, and general business and operational analysis.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing, engineering, or technically-related field or business.
Work experience should include supervision of production workforce, or quality control operations with proven leadership skills and experience in process flow, inventory, supply chain and logistics management.
Results oriented with ability to multi task and handle deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to demonstrate strong analytical, strategic thinking, business judgment, innovation and teaming skills.
Excellent presentation, written & verbal communication skills for both internal management and external customer support responsibilities.
Able to apply technology to provide practical solutions and must possess a true gift for invention, problem solving, and creative solutions.
Other tasks may be assigned as necessary.
Work experience in the aerospace or part repair industry is preferred.
Extensive knowledge and experience in managing SAP transactions from both an operations position and customer support position.
This position is specifically focused on the 1st shift supervision of hourly employees within RSL.
