Commercial Engines (CE) is Pratt & Whitney’s largest business making up more than 50 percent of the company’s annual revenue. Product Communications is seeking an outstanding candidate for Product Communications Senior Manager, to further our geared turbofan (GTF) Engine Communications objectives. The GTF is the most fuel efficient, environmentally friendly engine in commercial service today, with a long runway for future growth and development. It’s foundational in the company’s strategy to support the industry’s 2050 net zero carbon emissions goal.

As a member of the GTF communications team, you will work with CE leadership, including the programs, sales, marketing and customer support organizations, to help drive business results by providing world-class communications.

You will be the focal to the customer-facing team, providing communications guidance and strategies to positively influence the outcome of key GTF sales campaigns.

Location: Remote or Hybrid based in East Hartford, CT, USA

Travel: Approximately 10% travel to both domestic and international locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and lead comprehensive, integrated GTF communications campaigns that support the organization’s business objectives, key messages and employee engagement goals. Track campaign progress and measure results.

  • Develop and refine a compelling GTF narrative with messages and proof points for external and internal stakeholders. Partner with the Media Relations to achieve a positive GTF narrative in the media and leverage program news and milestones.

  • Advance our relationships with our communications counterparts at airframers, partners and airlines/lessors to enhance the reputation of the GTF program and support sales campaign success.

  • Partner with the Employee Communications team to build employee awareness, alignment and engagement in support of GTF program goals and the wider Pratt & Whitney internal communications objectives. Partner with our international communications colleagues to support the reputation of the GTF engine globally and the success of key international sales campaigns.

  • Continue to grow strong partnerships with the Digital Communications and CE Marketing teams to design and deploy messages and assets which generate strong engagement, externally and internally. Partner with the Brand, Advertising and Events team to deliver effective assets and experiences as part of our GTF communications campaigns.

  • Prepare and secure approvals for media statements, Q&As and talking points in partnership with the Media Relations team. Support issues management for the GTF program and ensure that leadership is kept apprised of media coverage concerning the program.

  • Provide communications counsel to CE leaders on presentations, speeches and talking points concerning the GTF engine.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years relevant experience OR advanced degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior demonstrated communications or marketing work experience in the aviation field.

  • Strategic thinker and self-starter.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Proven leader with strong interpersonal, influencing and teaming skills

  • Excellent written, oral and e-communications skills.

  • Proven track record of delivering successful communications campaigns for global engineering /manufacturing organizations, preferably in the aerospace or a related industry.

  • Ability to excel in fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

  • Experience with traditional and non-traditional communication platforms, including print, electronic, social media, video and industry events..

  • Degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations or related field. MBA or MS in business management or communications.
