Pratt and Whitney is home to a world-class Survivability Engineering organization. Team members work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and interact with numerous other disciplines. The Survivability team is seeking an engineer to become an Associate Infrared (IR) Engineer who will be responsible for the construction of finite element models, mesh generation, and execution of IR design & analysis. The position requires working on High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters running on LINUX. You may also occasionally execute lab or engine testing with IR cameras.

Education & Experience: This is an entry-level engineering position. You are required to have earned a Bachelor Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Relevant coursework and/or experience is preferred in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, statistics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and CAD modeling. You must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with one or more computer programming language(s) is preferred. You must have strong skills in the areas of verbal & written communication, teamwork, and time management.

This job is categorized as on-site: it requires individuals to report to the office most days.

Do you meet these Basic Qualifications?

  • Graduating from an accredited Bachelor’s degree program no later than August 2021

  • A pplicable field s of study include: Mechanical , Aerospace, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, Data Science or related field s

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or highe r

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contract requirements, and cannot be a dual citizen

  • You must be able to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance by passing all 13 Adjudicative Guidelines.

    How about any of these Preferred Qualifications ?

  • Active DoD security clearance

  • Prior internship experience with Pratt & Whitney or other Raytheon Technologies companies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a consistent record of collaboration, innovation , and initiative

  • A passion for learning about and pursuing a career in aviation and aerospace

  • Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in responding to new business challenges

  • Eager to learn new things, contribute a fresh perspective, and share your knowledge with others
