The Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford Site Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) organization is seeking a motivated individual looking for an opportunity to support and execute diverse EHS requirements, at a multi-tenant large site. The individual will interact extensively with labor union representatives, management, supervisors, hourly and salary employees on various projects and teams.
Key Responsibilities:•Provide technical EHS support to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and P&W/UTC requirements.•Provide technical direction to line management including council subcommittee teams for effective execution of goals and objectives. •Assist management in the recognition and control of hazards and risks.•Coordinate and conduct specialized Health and/or Safety audits and inspections of premises and operations in conjunction with others to monitor performance and assist the relevant line management to produce action plans to implement the necessary improvements.•Conduct trend analysis for inspection/audits, injuries, spills, near hits and develop corrective/preventive actions to improve performance.•Identify opportunities to successfully integrate EH&S programs/activities into overall business operations with a focus on management system integration.•Assist line management with the identification and immediate correction of unsafe conditions or practices to prevent adverse impacts to the organization and company.•Coordinate internal and external reporting.•Assist with effective implementation of the union complaint procedure.•Ensure that all training is conducted, assist as necessary.•Provide response/guidance as a spill responder on a rotating schedule.
Basic Qualifications:•Bachelors or Masters of Science in EHS related area of study with strong emphasis on compliance. •2+ years’ experience in EH&S compliance and EH&S Management Systems
Preferred Qualifications: •EHS certifications•Continuous Improvement experience such as ACE, Six Sigma experience
US Citizenship required due to government contracts
