We are seeking a Systems Engineering Center (SEC) Assembly Integration & Test (AI&T) Lead Systems Engineer within the Space Systems (SS) Mission Area of Raytheon Technologies Intelligence and Space business. The SEC Lead will drive the successful execution and delivery on an Electro-Optical IR (EOIR) Satellite Payload Program.

Responsibilities include leading a team through the testing and integration of an EOIR payload instrument.

Interfacing with cross-functional product teams, sub-contractors program management, and functional managers as well as non-engineering organizations such as finance, operations, supply chain, contracts and mission assurance to ensure the successful execution and delivery.

The SEC Assembly Integration and Test Lead will:

  • Manage a team through the integration and test of EOIR subsystems through systems testing at the environmental test level on a highly reliable system

  • Establish and implement a comprehensive integration and test program that ensures that requirements verified by test are instituted and all necessary Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) work products are incorporated into that plan

  • Ensure the team objectives are achieved on schedule, and consistent with quality and technical standards while meeting the program cost targets.

Foster a culture in-line with high performance and cohesive teams necessary to meet these targets

  • Plan, coordinate, and communicate with the cross-functional team responsible for delivering an EOIR system, subsystems, products and services

  • Share oversight of execution on all aspects of the design, development, integration, and test of the SEC IPT space work products

  • Work alongside the Chief Engineer and other IPTLs to manage the SEC integration and test team

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight of the entire EOIR product life cycle development activities (including): requirements analysis, validation and verification, hardware and software design and development, system level integration, interface definition, and algorithm development

  • Support the development of cost proposals, risk and opportunity management, and ensure the technical solution meets the system requirements as well as the development costs

Required Skills:

  • 12+ years engineering experience with at least 5 years working space hardware and systems engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated engineering leadership experience as an Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), functional or program manager

  • Must have extensive knowledge of complex EOIR systems as applied to high reliability space systems with the level of experienced required to achieve the technical performance and objectives of a development program

  • Experience in a space development EOIR program supporting test, verification and sell-off of product

  • Understanding of Systems Engineering and design work products critical to system test and verification

  • Experience with development and testing of highly reliable space programs (Class A/B)

  • Experience in leading engineering technical and anomaly resolutions to closure

  • Knowledge of test methods to verify critical EOIR parameters and requirements

  • Knowledge of environmental test methods and practices (e.g. Dynamic, Vibration, EMI, Thermal Vacuum)

  • Experience with the technical reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, PER, etc.)

  • Experience in receiving unit and subsystem elements and

taking ownership of integrating and testing those elements as a system for final sell-off

  • Experience with System and Subsystem Level Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V)

  • Experience with cost and schedule management using a government approved Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

  • Experience with developing and baselining a comprehensive resource-loaded schedule that accounts for but not limited to: 1) STE development, certification, and validation; 2) Software/Algorithm product implementation and validation; 3) Test Procedure development; 4) Functional Test and Demonstration; 5) Integration of subassemblies and Units; and 6) Acceptance Test activities

  • Knowledge of requirements development and flow down process

  • Knowledge of STE design, testing or operation

  • Experience establishing and maintaining working relationship with all levels of the organization, including customers, users, and other peer groups

  • Experience with developing and presenting technical briefings to the customer and company leadership

  • Experience identifying resources and skillsets needed to complete tasks: people, processes, facilities and tools

  • Active TS/SCI Secret Clearance

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment

  • Ability to access US only data systems

Desired Skills:

  • Fundamental knowledge of radiometric principles and analyses

  • Experience with STE design, testing or operation

  • Experience with Software integration and test, configuration management

  • Experience in proposal development including creations of Basis-of-Estimates

  • Experience in interfacing with the customer to establish trusted relationships and advocate for continued investment in both current and future technology investments

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, Science or related STEM degree
