Raytheon Technologies Hardware Quality Engineer in El Segundo, California
Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) has TWO exciting openings for Hardware Quality Engineers (HWQEs) at our El Segundo, CA location.
Active Secret Clearance or higher required.
They will provide quality engineering support and expertise to RI&S to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements and provide guidance to stakeholders on the use of quality instruments in the administration of the Quality System.
The chosen candidate will apply quality engineering skills to develop and deploy effective and efficient methods for verifying and accepting processes and products, including the use of quantitative and qualitative instruments.
Experience with project/program bid and proposal development is highly desired.
The HWQEs will use problem-solving resources and methods to: improve product design, minimize inspection, resolve fabrication problems, analyze data, report and mitigate negative trends, lead process improvements, lead special investigations, perform audits, take preventative and corrective actions, support design reviews, and develop product acceptance techniques and plans.
The HWQEs will provide support for multiple airborne programs providing expertise, guidance and management of issues encountered during fabrication which may include new or re-engineered fabrication defects, unit troubleshooting, tear-downs,
re-installation of electrical and mechanical hardware, unit testing and unit acceptance. They will ensure proper implementation of root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions; continuous improvement; compliance with RI&S policies and procedures; deployment and alignment of the quality engineering processes.
U.S. Citizenship required as the candidates must have an Active U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance day one of employment.
Required Skills
Minimum 6 years Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering professional
Experience with project/program bid and proposal development
Experience with AS9100 quality management systems
Experience with project management and risk and opportunity management
Experience with microelectronic fab, manufacturing and assembly
Experience with metrology, measurement instruments and practices
Ability to write clear presentations and technical reports, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent organizational, collaborative and communication skills
Must be able to travel as required to support external customers and suppliers.
Desired Skills
Knowledge or experience with forming responses to proposals/bids
Experience working with external suppliers and mechanical inspection techniques
Experience in supporting design and manufacturing processes and have the ability to work within a cross-functional team environment
Experience with Six Sigma methodology and resources such as lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
Hands on use of statistical process controls for process monitoring, qualification and/or design feedback
Ability to lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions.
Knowledge and application of business acumen
Ability to lead cross-functional teams in failure analyses, root cause analysis, the use of Six Sigma techniques (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, fault trees, fishbone diagrams,
corrective actions, etc.)
Familiar with lean manufacturing concepts such as Design for Manufacturing and Affordability (DFMA), Input-output diagrams, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Ability to guide and develop balanced supplier relationships built on partnerships and required performance
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and priorities
Ability to collaborate and team with multiple internal functions and external organizations to provide best value solutions to our customers.
Required Education
Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
Bachelor of Art Degrees in an appropriate field of science (Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics)
Bachelor of Art Degree in Mathematics
