Raytheon Technologies Lead System Engineer in El Segundo, California

Raytheon Technologies Space Systems is currently in need for a Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for the NGI Comm effort. This technical position requires a top performer with strong tactical and space systems engineering for RF communication payloads.

The SEIT IPT Lead is responsible for ensuring the assigned team’s objectives are achieved on schedule, within budget, and consistent with quality and technical standards. The SEIT IPT lead oversees execution on all aspects of the systems engineering, integration and test team’s work products. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership, control account ownership, guidance, and direct interfacing with internal and external customers. The SEIT IPTL’s responsibilities include the overall technical execution of the systems engineering, integration, test, IV&V functions, and communication and interface with program leadership. The candidate will be responsible for cost and schedule, task management, staffing coordination, variance analysis and earned value reporting. Additionally, the SEIT IPTL will supervise systems engineering, system requirements, system testing, updating of test procedures, and generation of sell-off reports. The candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to work in a high paced, high demand program environment, and to manage SEIT resources (including staff, facilities, and equipment) efficiently. Finally, the candidate must also successfully interface with the Product Area Chief Engineer and lead the management of subcontractors.

This Lead Systems Engineer role is responsible for the Systems Engineering of a development and ground demonstration program within the Special Programs portfolio of Space Systems. Activities include:

  • Generation and management of artifacts associated with a Technical Baseline which include Technical Performance Metrics (TPMs) / Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), operational views, concept of operations (CONOPS) architectures, compliance matrices, system specifications, interface requirements specifications and system designs.

  • Development and flow down of systems requirements, error budget trees, and performance modeling, simulation and analysis

  • Development of test strategies, verification plans, and test procedures

  • Integration of hardware and software

  • Ensuring systems engineering products (e.g., studies, designs, analyses, reports, etc.) meet objectives/expectations

  • Creating technical presentations to both internal and external customers

  • Key presenter at technical reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMs)

  • Communicating status, results, and recovery plans (if needed) to senior and executive management

  • Partner with the Chief Engineer and Program Manager to ensure flawless program execution

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience

  • Experience in architecture, hardware, software and system integration of Electro-optical and/or infrared remote sensors

  • Experience leading technical teams and providing technical mentoring to others

  • Experience in preparing and delivering briefings to management and customers

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance as of Day 1 of Employment

  • Active Secret clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience developing and delivering operational hardware and software

  • IPTL & EVMS experience

  • Proficiency in DOORS or similar requirements management software and/or processes

Required Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Sciences, Math, or related discipline

Desired Education:

  • Masters degree in Engineering, Sciences, Math, or related discipline
