Job Description:

This is a national level role in the Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) Engineering Solutions Software Engineering team, part of Digital Technology. This position will be located in either El Segundo, North Texas, Aurora, or the Northeast supporting software engineers in multiple regions/sites, with the primary responsibility of provisioning software tools for engineering use across RI&S. T his person will be a key team member helping the organization deliver service excellence around the following activities: interfacing with program engineers and management; coordinating resources to provide appropriate tool related services; supplier engagement for roadmaps and issue resolution; compliance hardening; helping users on programs effectively use Software Engineering tools; troubleshooting tool related problems; tailoring tools to specific program needs, and identifying and documenting Software Engineering Solutions best practices.

The duties of this job include but are not limited to:

  • Apply extensive technical expertise in Software Engineering to engage and consult with programs on the implementation of Software Engineering solutions

  • Act as a change agent to steer programs in the use of and adoption of strategic solutions and emerging technologies

  • Analyze and provision software application needs for program startups

  • Manage upgrades and support installations for Software Engineering tools including testing, data backups, DFARS compliance, tool integrations & configurations

  • Function as part of the virtual SAS IT Engineering Solutions Software Engineering services team

  • Identify, document, and champion software engineering automation best practices and improvements which help engineers be more productive

  • Engage in new technology investigations and evaluations from strategic vendors. For high ROI capabilities, be part of a team to lead the pilot and deployment of these emerging technologies.

  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

  • Work without appreciable direction

  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment

  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects

  • Interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 6 years professional experience with a BS/BA in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math or related technical degree; 4 years professional experience with a Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math or related technical degree

  • Experience with a CI/CD tool suite, and knowledge of how they work

  • Experience with Software Engineering tool administration

  • Experience with Windows and UNIX. Admin experience with either or both highly desirable

  • Experience with scripting and automation

  • Strong automation background with the ability to troubleshoot / solve complex problems

  • Strong communication, presentation, and people skills with ability to interface with senior lead engineers and program management personnel

  • Ability to multi-task, to support multiple customers, and to work within specific schedule and cost constraints

  • Strong teamwork skills – The ability to interact productively with end users, analysts, other personnel, and customers in a diverse team setting

  • Ability to work and collaborate in virtual environment where team members are not co-located

  • Self-motivated and able to function with minimal oversight

  • Self-directed with good organizational skills

  • Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining a DoD secret clearance

Desired Skills:

  • 3-6 years Program experience in Software Engineering

  • 1-3 years DevOps support experience on one or more programs

  • Strong understanding and implementation experience with SCRUM / Lean / Agile / Scaled Agile methodologies

  • Knowledge and experience with software engineering best practices and work instructions

  • Customer engagement/relationship management experience or prior consulting experience

  • Detailed working knowledge of CI/CD processes and best practices

  • Detailed working knowledge of DevSecOps processes

  • Strong computer skills and/or programming experience in one or more languages

  • 1-3 years process experience generating process documentation/tooling aids and instructing others in a SW process area

  • Existing secret or top secret security clearance

Required Education (including Major):

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical degree.
