Raytheon Technologies Principal Reliability and Safety Engineer in El Segundo, California
The Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S) Whole Life Services Directorate is made up of several engineering disciplines whose main goal is to guide product design early in their life cycle to ensure effective operation, reliability, maintainability, testability, safety, and economical ownership by the customer and end user. This position is specifically for a Reliability and Safety Engineer to provide Specialty Engineering design support for the Secure Sensor Solutions and Space Systems mission areas based in El Segundo, CA.
The Specialty Engineer responsibilities include:
•Lead Specialty Engineering activities through multiple program phases - including proposal, development, integration/test, and production.
•Generate Specialty Engineering plans, analyses, reports, demonstrations, and tests within assigned budget / schedule goals while achieving company, customer, and governmental agency goals.
•Lead technical reliability, maintainability, testability, safety, and affordability evaluations of engineering designs to verify formal specification requirements and overall supportability. Analytical work products include Reliability and Maintainability Predictions Report, Built-in-Test Fault Detection / Fault Isolation Report, Safety Assessment Report, and Affordability Assessment Report.
•Lead Failure Reporting and Corrective Action (FRACA) activities, generate formal failure reporting documentation, and conduct reliability growth testing.
•Effectively communicate, both written and orally, with a diverse group of people including program management, engineering staff, suppliers, and customers.
•8 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering
•Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Reliability and/or System Safety
•Experience self - guided leading program reliability/safety program execution through development phase
•Experience managing the development of engineering proposals, including Basis of Estimate (BOE) generation and technical volume authoring
•Experience performing stress-based reliability predictions, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMECA), and performing failure root cause and corrective action (FRACA)
•Experience conducting a System Safety program in accordance with MIL-STD-882 to identify hazards, mitigate severity/probability to an acceptable level of residual risk, formally track hazards to closure, and documenting results in a Safety Assessment Report (SAR).
•Strong organization, problem solving, time management and communications skills; detailed oriented. This includes, but is not limited to, the ability to effectively coordinate multiple resources, multitask in a fast paced environment, and work under limited supervision.
•The ability to obtain and maintain a US TS/SCI Security Clearance. US Citizenship is required as only US Citizens are eligible for a Security Clearance
•Active DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance
•Experience leading or participating in formal Failure Review Board investigations
•Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) / Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience
•Familiarity with Testability requirements, modeling/analysis, and/or BIT architecture
•Familiarity with Design-To-Cost (DTC) and Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analyses
