Raytheon Technologies Senior Manager Systems Engineering - Radar Mode Lead in El Segundo, California
Raytheon Intelligence & Space is the provider of advanced electrical scanned radar sensor systems for the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18 Aircraft (APG-79(V)1 and (V)4 AESA), the Air Force’s F/A-15 Aircraft (APG-82 AESA), and a Gen 5.x Family of Systems (FOS) set of solutions. This AESA Systems provides the war fighter with the most accurate and timely information available for the network-centric battlefield. The radar mode lead works across disciplines and domains (Software, Systems Engineering, and Hardware) and with the customer. The mode lead must be experienced with Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground modes including SAR and GMTI. It is expected that the mode lead with lead the evaluation of the flight test data and will work closely with the modeling and simulation team to ensure that the models are representative of the test data. The mode lead works with each discipline to define specifications, translate these to domain/discipline requirements (design, performance and interface), identify Technical Performance Measures (TPMs) and Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), and lead Integration and Test (I&T) and Verification and Validation (V&V) activities to insure performance per requirements. The GSR radar Department supports the development of new capabilities and the mode lead will interface with the LSE and Chief Engineer (CE) for these advanced system solutions during the Definition, Development, Integration and Test, Production, and Product Sell Off phases.
The Systems Engineering (SE) organization is seeking engineering leaders committed and passionate about creating innovative and cost-effective Verification and Validation solutions.
Provide technical leadership in radar systems development, radar system test, radar system mode development and modeling.
Work closely with engineering functional and technical management to ensure on time deliveries
Experience with customer specifications for SW and System performance
Experience with Specification decomposition to Requirements
Experience originating Systems Test procedures for I&T, V&V; and unit/module procedures
Experience with lab processes, hardware testing, hardware module/unit/system and Test
Experienced at leading hardware, and software integration and system verification efforts necessary for the efficient integration and test, and sell-off of radar systems and new capabilities
Candidate will be a technical point of contact for engineering issues related a development effort. Candidate working with CE and LSE ensures that technical issues are understood, addressed immediately and technical solutions/corrective actions are implemented expeditiously.
Performs system testing, test reporting, updating of test procedures and generation of sell-off reports. Supports technical solution characterization, and reviews/contributes to/approves technical resolutions. Supports System, Software, Test Equipment requirements generation. Knowledgeable in systems engineering, systems architecture and IV&V engineering principles. Ability to work in a high paced, high demand laboratory and Production environment.
Must have existing DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance and SSBI/Special Access Required (SAP/SAR) clearance
Minimum of 12 years work related experience
Experience with AESA Radar systems and relevant experience with AESA Radar system design, integration, test, verification and validation
Experience with Transition to Production, Special Test Equipment and Production.
Experience decomposing Specifications to System performance, interface, I&T, and V&V requirements for protected and hardened systems.
Experience executing Integration and Test procedures on AESA-based radar systems; troubleshooting lab and system/software/HW stability issues; and developing solutions to the problems.
Proven technical competence in a complex system development environment
Very strong organization, coordination, planning and teaming skills
The position requires a solid understanding of test methodologies, system architecture(s) and troubleshooting. Advanced modeling and simulations as well as operation in a hostile EW environment.
Required Education: BS Degree in Engineering, Math, Science or related technical discipline.
Desired Education: PHD in Engineering, Math, Science or related technical discipline.
