Raytheon Technologies Senior Principal Multi-Disciplined Engineer in El Segundo, California
Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RIS) Engineering has established a Supplier Engineering (S-Engr) organization to provide technical knowledge and process capability expertise to improve supplier performance.
Supplier Engineers are engaged in all phases of product life cycle, beginning with proposal development, new product development and improving manufacturing processes within the supply base through production implementation.
RIS executes significant business with a large number of suppliers across the various product lines. Effective Supplier Engineering engagement across this broad base of activities is imperative in order to reduce the growing number of supplier related issues RIS has been experiencing. This role influences Raytheon design requirements while aligning with supplier capabilities to ensure producibility, affordability and delivery of quality products from the supply base. Core focus areas include leading Technical Requirements Understanding Sessions (TRUS) and Supplier Risk and Readiness Assessments (SRRA) with suppliers and technical interface for Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Supplier Integrated Product Team activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leading Technical Requirements Understanding Sessions (TRUS) and Supplier Risk and Readiness Assessments (SRRA)
•
Supplier performance management (SPM) coordination with Supply Chain and Mission Assurance
•
Engineering support for PFMEA and RESA activities
•
Sourcing Strategy development
•
Performing complex Technical Evaluations
•
Supplier assessments and Best Value Source Selection (BVSS)
•
Proposal development, risk identification & mitigation planning and bidding
•
Supplier Statement of Work (SSOW) review and oversight to ensure technical adequacy
•
Meet organizational performance metrics and goals
Required Skills:
•
10+ Years of relevant engineering experience
•
Manage complex products and multiple priorities concurrently
•
Direct experience with supplier engagements, strategy development, technical & capability assessments, requirements translation & understanding, and supplier performance management
•
Working knowledge of Key Product Characteristics (KPC), robust manufacturing engineering, producibility and affordability practices
•
Strong leadership and people skills
•
Ability to travel between Raytheon sites and visit supplier locations in support of business execution, growth requirements and supplier base
•
Travel between 10-25% of the time
•
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date
Desired Skills:
•
Active Secret Clearance
•
Experienced engineer with Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or related engineering background
•
Factory experience including knowledge of RTX manufacturing procedures
•
Transition to production experience
•
Oral/Written communications skills, team building, change management and team leadership experience with the ability to work with minimum direct supervision

Experience working directly with customers and program leadership

Detailed knowledge of Supplier Assessment (RESA), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Enterprise Sourcing & Performance Excellence (ESPX), IPDS, Commodity Strategy, design and procurement processes
Required Education:
Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) Manufacturing or related technical degree
