Raytheon Technologies Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer I in El Segundo, California

The selected candidate will have an opportunity to be part of a large Environment , Health & Safety organization . The selected candidate must be a self-starter, energetic and able to work in a fast-pace collaborative team environment .

This ideal candidate will have relevant safety and industrial hygiene experience with strength in developing and implementing creative injury reduction programs or campaigns. The candidate should demonstrate a track record or continuous improvement for safety and industrial hygiene programs. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and provide timely support for multiple customers, requests and projects on a daily basis is desired. Candidate should have excellent communications, interpersonal skills to impact internal and external groups including engineers, factory line employees and administration.

Assigned EHS duties may include but not limited to:

• Under the direction of the Industrial Hygiene and Safety (IH&S) Manager support and implement Industrial Hygiene and Safety programs including, but not limited to, contractor safety, confined spaces, Job Hazard Assessment program, lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, industrial hygiene sampling, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, indoor air quality, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, cryogenic fluid safety, chemical safety and others as assigned by organization

• Conduct regular site inspections for compliance with EH&S programs

• Complete qualitative and quantitative IH monitoring and assessments to evaluate employee exposure to potential hazards and interpret data to choose appropriate controls to eliminate hazardous exposures (noise, indoor air quality, air sampling, x-ray surveys). Interpret and communicate IH sample and survey data to affected employees

• Analysis of developing and lagging safety performance indicators for trends to strengthen corrective actions

• Implementation and of behavioral based safety program and initiatives

• Serve as EHS representative for assigned improving and functional safety council

• Conduct injury investigations and root cause analysis, develop corrective actions and track to completion

• Lead projects to ensure promote health and safety of employees and contractors

• Contribute to the development and implementation of EHS strategic initiatives that encourage continuous improvement

• Support the improvement of business and site EHS communications plan

• Support emergency response and company preparedness programs

• Provide instructor led training on various safety and industrial hygiene topics

• Provide support for other site EH&S programs such new chemical review, environmental or asset protection for both El Segundo and Santa Barbara sites

• Support the site to meet EH& requirements for upcoming internal and external audits including Cal VPP, AS9100 and other internal company assessments

• May need to travel to support Company and RI&S initiatives

Required Skills:

• 4 years of related experience

• Knowledge and the application of Cal/OSHA regulations and ANSI Standards

• Knowledge and the application of the principals of industrial hygiene, ergonomics, safety, & sustainability

• Ability to accurately diagnose general and complex EHS issues related to Raytheon operations, choose appropriate or practical controls, and implement practical and effective solutions in a timely manner

• Ability to effectively organize and care for multiple projects and programs in a fast-pace environment and demonstrate effective prioritization and implementation skills

• Ability to provide clear, concise, and effective verbal communications

• Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and follow-up on work flow in a team environment to meet departmental goals and targets

• Demonstrated ability to use email, and Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Project

• Well-organized and have excellent attention to detail and thoroughness with accomplishing tasks from inception through completion in a multi-tasking environmental

• Be flexible to accept additional assignments, campaigns and rotations to other EHSS programs including environmental and sustainability

• Ability to Obtain U.S. Secret Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date

Desired Skills:

• Relevant experience in managing industrial hygiene and safety programs

• Electromagnetic Energy Safety Training

• Experience with implementing effective hazardous material emergency response program

• Ability to work with minimal supervision, but will not hesitate to seek additional information from supervisors or peers so tasks can be completed timely and correctly

• Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred

Required Education: Bachelors or Masters Science degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, chemistry, biology, industrial/safety engineering, or related field
