Raytheon Technologies Sr. Mechanical Engineering - Design, Integration, and Test Automation in El Segundo, California

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Design, Integration, and Test Automation to join the Space Test Automation team at our El Segundo, California campus to further help evolve our technology and grow our business into new domains and markets.

In this role you will be responsible for the design, development, assembly, Integration & Test (I&T), and validation of Mechanical Special Test Equipment (MSTE) for Space hardware and remote sensing applications. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is passionate about advances in technology, has an innovative mindset, dedicated to catalyzing continuous improvements, and enjoys proactive interaction and collaboration with multiple engineering teams and functional disciplines.

Security Clearance Requirement: An active and in-scope Secret or above level U.S. Security Clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is required due to U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Required Skills:

  • Broad Mechanical Engineering experience working in an integrated product team environment designing Special Test Equipment for Defense and/or Aerospace Systems

  • Experience working in an engineering laboratory transitioning from design to production / manufacturing through integration and test creating assembly procedures and test plans for Mechanical Special Test Equipment (MSTE)

  • Comprehensive Mechanical CAD experience (ProE/CREO highly preferred)

  • Advanced understanding and experience of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience in contributing, creating, and/or presenting hardware design, manufacturing, integration and test engineering presentations and summary explanations for internal and external stakeholders

    Desired Skills:

  • Defense Space Systems experience

  • Technical experience with optical, digital, and/or RF systems

  • Demonstrated ability to perform test equipment trouble-shooting and failure diagnosis with directly-relevant experience

  • Experience assisting with proposal development including Basis of Estimate (BOE) creation

  • Experience with supporting formal reviews such as Test Readiness Review (TRR), Failure Review Board (FRB), and Consent to Ship Review (CTSR)

  • Familiarity with electronic packaging design and integration; including: interpreting signal lists, Electrical Interconnect Diagrams (EICDs), and intra and inter box knowledge

  • Experience with requirements management tool like DOORS or Slate

  • Knowledge of commercial Finite Element Software, such as NASTRAN/PATRAN, ANSYS Workbench, and/or ABAQUS

  • Current Top Secret or SSBI Security Clearance highly preferred

    Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related STEM Degree Program (Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering highly preferred) with 6+ years' of relevant experience required, OR

  • Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related STEM Degree Program (Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering highly preferred) with 4+ years' of relevant experience required
