The Supplier Development Lead position (SDL) requires working on site at 4 to 6 Collins Aerospace suppliers in the Washington area to assist them on their journey to achieve platinum level performance. The suppliers in the area range from Casting/Forging houses, machining, fabrication, electronics, distributors, plastics, engineering items, and even Upholstery. The SDL’s function would involve training and coaching for root cause analysis of quality and delivery misses, lean manufacturing, cell design, capacity assessment, equipment maintenance, Quality Clinic, Zero Defect Plan (ZDP) EH&S issues, and shop cleanliness. The SDL also works to improve the relationship between Collins Aerospace and the supplier by improving the communications, minimizing the number of outside visits, catalyst for additional business opportunities, reducing financial risks, and developing long term relationships.
This individual must be based in the Everette, WA area; Will be working 100% remote and will support Collins Aerospace suppliers in the Washington/Oregon area .
On-site at supplier 80% of their time
20% of the time working from home office
Perform assessments of the supplier’s capacity and capability to perform and sustain performance through the SRA (Supplier Readiness Assessment) & SHA (Supplier Health Assessment).
Engage with the supplier to develop action plan (SIP) to close the gaps between current state and gold level performance.
Track SIP and drive closure to reach gold level.
Communicate supplier strategic plans and actions to address missed targets to Regional Manager, and to the Regional Leadership as needed.
Prepare supplier executive summaries and present at SBU critical supplier reviews.
Conduct training and coaching on-site at the supplier to develop their team.
Establish leading indicators of performance and track weekly, on-site at supplier
Eliminate any risks that will prevent suppliers from meeting performance targets, and escalate as needed
Intervene as required to expedite deliveries ( including overdue reduction and buffer compliance ) and/or resolve quality issues.
Drive cross functional and BU engagement to remove roadblocks necessary to improve supplier performance.
Coordinating with Collins technical team to improve the design for manufacturing.
Coordinate with the Collins purchasing team to stabilize production demands and find root causes and corrective actions for Collins caused misses.
Requires a Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience or, an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience. In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Must be willing and able to travel up to 80% of the time
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
5+ years of experience in Engineering/Operations/Manufacturing or related area with a continued proven track record of performance achievement, and growth with increased level of responsibility in an operations environment
Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, or other Business related field.
Experience in working with suppliers
Experience developing suppliers and supplier relationships
Experience with supply chain management in the Aerospace organization
Ability to lead in a collaborative team environment
