Facility Technicians are responsible for maintaining the grounds and infrastructure of the campus, in all its forms. This work environment spans over 120 acres across hills and valleys, use of company vehicles, power tools, and forklifts are required for this position. Areas of the facility require special awareness training, and regulatory compliance. There are X-ray buildings, N-ray facilities, laser etching, as well as explosive manufacturing and testing.

Facility Technicians report directly to the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor, they receive direction and assignments from their Team Leader. Facility Technicians support our internal customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Respond to our internal customer needs

  • Set up office spaces, move furniture and fixtures such as work surfaces, file cabinets, etc.

  • Respond to repair issues and minor electrical and plumbing needs

  • Minor electrical work can include troubleshooting live electrical HVAC control circuits using a Volt/Ohm Meter, LOTO, changing ballasts, investigating failures on 120v/277v lighting and convenience outlets.

  • Minor plumbing work can include unplugging a toilet, stopping a leak, assisting in the replacement of fixtures and faucets

  • Complete work requests in a timely fashion with high degree of quality execution

  • Timely responsiveness, quality execution; with little to no call backs.

  • Work with team members to execute Preventive/Predictive Maintenance activities.

  • Support contractors on site with Hosting and Quality Assurance responsibilities

  • Escort / host duties may include climbing ladders, transporting visitors around the site, etc.…

  • Maintain the shop and department office areas in a neat and businesslike fashion

  • Assembly of component workstations as found in most office environments.

  • Cubicle component assembly by hand using regular hand tools: hammers, screwdrivers, some cordless tools

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • HS diploma and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 6 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Experience with all forms of basic hand tools: wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers and cordless power tools

  • Experience maintaining a legacy facility: painting, carpentry, plumbing light electrical. Older facilities create unique challenges, our business calls on this department to be creative with these job skills. Some common jobs include:

  • Remove and replace wood siding, using power saws, power drills, demolition tools

  • Hang light fixtures, assist the site electrician to wire the fixture or other appliances as directed

  • Frame and mount exhaust fans on ceilings and walls using power drivers or hand tools

  • Cut and/or frame walls, cut and place sheetrock (use of razor knives and drills/screws), finish, texture and paint

  • Troubleshoot HVAC control circuits, with or without guidance, using V/O meter

  • Installation of fabricated tooling or appliances in support of production, using metal cutting tools, drills, taps and dies, etc.

  • Must be organized

  • Must have computer experience

  • Experience with SAP a plus

  • O365, Outlook, Excel, Word are used consistently

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Both In-Person and Electronic communication skills (virtual meetings, email or use of chat functions)

  • Able to lift 35lbs unassisted.

  • Ability to climb ladders and reach heavy objects overhead.
