This opening is for a Production Planning Supervisor/Manager responsible for supervising a large team of intermediate and experienced Production Planners at our Fairfield, CA site. The Supervisor/Manager will oversee day-to-day personnel operations of the Production Planning team - managing areas such as workload, product assignments and personnel schedules. The Supervisor/Manager can expect daily interaction with Master Scheduling, Operation and Production teams, Engineering groups, Purchasing (Supply Chain) and Quality. This role will support and have active involvement in the Production Scheduling process managed by the Master Scheduling Team. Our site is currently working towards a January 2022 SAP upgrade implementation. This Supervisor/Manager will be major contributor to the implementation process as it relates to day-in-the-life changes that will impact the Production Planning team.

This position will report to the SIOP Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily supervision and support of the Production Planning team including all aspects related to work quality, work timeliness, training, personnel development

  • Responsible to ensure compliance of all Company, Site, Department and Quality Standards – including related policies, work procedures and instructions

  • Active contributor and stakeholder of the Planning Team – Production Planning and Master Scheduling – as we continue to develop and refine our roles

  • Develop and maintain a close working partnership with the Master Scheduling team

  • Responsible to address and remediate job performance and/or behavior issues negatively impacting the Team

  • Maintain a safe and positive work environment

  • Maintain an environment of open communication within the Production Planning & Master Scheduling teams, as well as across other on-site and off-site groups

  • Actively communicate, collaborate, and interact with all functional Site groups, as well as Corporate Teams

  • Support and actively participate in the Fairfield Site SIOP implementation

  • Continue development and enhancement of Department metrics to measure, track and improve results

  • Ensure on-time release of Production Orders to the production floor

  • With input from Production Planners, monitor and advise Master Scheduling if any production delays and/or quality issues will potentially impact Customer delivery timing

  • Monitor and provide input on MRP Plant-specific Master data settings

  • Maintain an “audit ready” department

  • Continue evaluation of current process and procedure for short- / mid- / long- term Department improvements, as well as standardization of work

  • Continue development of product line cross-training across the Production Planning Team

  • Develop “tailing” inventory review and scrap process

  • Assist in the training, development, and retention of personnel

  • Participate and support various daily, weekly, monthly meetings and projects, as assigned or required

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience or,

  • In absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required with a solid Production Planning & Control background

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Ability to be highly adaptable to unexpected changes while maintaining a positive attitude

  • Prior experience successfully managing diverse team of 10 or more people

  • Proven ability to motivate teams and develop individuals

  • Proven ability to manage conflict and provide constructive feedback

  • Prior experience in process and/or discrete production environment with strong background in Production Planning & Control

  • Prior 6+ years of work experience in an ERP environment – preferably SAP

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong strategic, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated Customer Service to both external & internal Customers

  • Ability to make independent decisions on product issues, but understands which issues to escalate to Leadership and/or Manufacturing management for input

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common SOP’s, technical documents, instructions, and reports

  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Office 365 in a Windows 10 environment, power user in Microsoft Excel is preferred

  • APICS certification is a plus, but not required
