POSITION OVERVIEW
The Compute Commercial Services, Associate Director, will be responsible for partnering with the digital Infrastructure and Application organizations to develop and drive the cloud and managed hosting services commercials. The position requires negotiation skills, financial and pricing understanding of public and private cloud services, infrastructure solutions, commercial skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively collaborate, influence and communicate at different levels of the organization. The role requires the ability to work on multiple work streams and manage projects while fostering effective cross-functional team relationships in a collaborative work environment.
A successful candidate will have in depth knowledge of cloud and managed hosting services and many on-prem cloud solutions. Furthermore, the candidate must have relevant experience in supplier management.
A deep understanding of the end-to-end procurement process, from contract negotiations, to requisition and PO placement is needed for this role. The leader continuously monitors and evaluates supplier metrics for trends and root causes and formulates proactive plans to ensure overall success of the category. Given the amount of contracts, this leader must be able to effectively employ project management skills to develop and manage an integrated master schedule to engagements and other activities. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to develop effective presentations and present to leadership and peers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Negotiate Contracts for cloud services (Azure, AWS), managed hosting services and infrastructure vendors such as Dell, HP, and IBM
Analyze pricing and negotiate complex technology agreements
Develop competitive reports for cloud services
Develop commercial perspectives on contract renews or refresh
Analyze supplier metrics including monthly costs and track performance
Build strong partnerships across various stakeholders (legal, finance, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
12+ years of relevant experience negotiating managed hosting and cloud vendors preferred
In depth understanding of infrastructure capabilities including virtualization, container services, software defined and converged solutions for server, storage, and network
Experience in consuming cloud-based solutions from leading providers
Working knowledge of major software providers and custom-built apps
Excellent customer facing skills and ability to interface with technical engineers and analysts as well as management at all levels
Ability to interface with technical engineers, analysts and management at all levels
Ability to lead multiple tasks/projects in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Strong business judgment, critical thinking and analytical skills
Education:
12 Years Experience with BS or BA Degree in a technical program
Or Advanced Degree with 10 years experience
